This story is what keeps me coming back to this site. Its a interesting mix of eastern fantasy with a western MC. The author tries to stay true to keeping his character a Non-OP MC, and for the most part is successful. The supporting characters have some depth, and at this point think the writer could safely explore the story from their perspectives more often.

This is one of the most interesting and unique novels on webnovel.com. I include in this statement those novels that are being translated into English. This is a professionally created book, the writing quality is head and shoulders above most books on the sited. The updates are like clockwork. The development of the story has been interesting at every point. I have looked forward to the next chapter every day. The characters are believable and interesting, and the world background is fascinating. If you're looking for a good novel to read, and something that deserves real fan service; then I would recommend reading Cultivating Civilization! I continue to look forward to upcoming chapters!

I'm at chapter 82 and I practically devoured the story it's so good. The writing is excellent, bar a few typos that definitely can be ignored, the character interaction flow well, but worldbuilding is a little lacking though I hope it will be broadened as we progress through the story. So far so good. What I'm a little concerned about is actual cultivation, little of it is actually explained and what is is a bit confusing. Jack talks about cultivation grades but we don't have a frame of reference to understand how powerful each grade is and where exactly that grade is compared to an Elder or the Peak Masters from the first volume. A question, is cultivation I'm your story basically just absorbing more and more Qi as you advance? Jack hasn't done anything special to rise in grade, just using his cultivation technique and having breakthroughs on his own. In conclusion, a very good story I will definitely suggest reading, a little rough around the edges but very promising.

First review ever. very unique and well crafted story. Side characters are fleshed out without taking away from the MC. In my own opinion some novels often focus too much on side characters, for me this is the perfect balance. The MC is made by his past, meaning he acts and thinks how you would expect him to regarding his previous experience. Backstory and flashbacks are appropriate for the most parts.

I have really been enjoying this story. I like the progression of the character but I feel like there is a lack of exploration of his character in the last 5 chapters. Keep up the good work.

I came to this novel with high expectations after reading the synopsis. It was a little bit of a letdown and this is why. "Follow him on his path as he tries to balance his past life's morals with this life's realities." This is a line from the synopsis at the time of this review. This line made me think "Ok, a cultivation novel without such a generic outlook on human interaction." I got a few chapters in and found out that the MC is the reincarnation of a war vet. This really made me excited. What let down my expectations is the fact that this novel is exactly the same as every other cultivation novel out on the market and even on this website. The main character either kills all his enemy or runs till he can kill all his enemies. There's always this generic "pull up the roots" type of mentality in these types of novels and while that phrase hasn't been said yet, the overall feel and context is there. Apart from the fact that there's barely any originality in the base subplot of the novel, I'm really happy with the overall writing quality that has been shown as of chapter 69. The character, while unagreeable by my standards, is at least three dimensional. There is "character" in the character if that makes sense. As for the other characters in the story, they feel rather unimportant and are easily forgotten. While reading up to chapter 69 I found myself forgetting which character is which, their names and relations to the MC. I think this was expounded by the fact that there's a large number of introductions to new characters rather quickly during this period of time. If I wanted to point out one aspect of the novel that I really thoroughly enjoyed it would probably be the MC interactions with what I can tentatively call the FMC. While introduced late in the story, she makes a big change in the overall feel of the story as a whole. I feel like the romance between them is rather forced, it isn't forced in a way that I would consider unappealing. There's always some mysticism in writing a good romance and getting the subtle interactions just right to bring about the effect that you want. It's definitely not the best interaction, but it is reasonably high on the scale, and most certainly better than some of the stuff I've seen. Though towards the chapter 69 mark, I felt like the interactions with MC and the FMC were rather strange. There was a certain "love is in the air" vibe going on during the build-up, and then all of a sudden it wasn't there anymore. It appears and then disappears randomly, it's nonexistent unless both characters are having an interaction in the story and that's a little off-putting. As a whole, I think this novel is rather well written compared to some of the originals on this website. It's clear that a lot of time and effort was put into it and it shows. I especially like the fact that the mc isn't "extraordinarily handsome" and that the FMC doesn't have paragraphs upon paragraphs describing her as some unearthly beauty in some weird chinese mystical syntax with meaning that is completely lost in translation.

I look forward to Every translated chapter for this story, and am even tempted to try to muddle through the original even though I DON'T know the language just so that I can read more lol. Please let the Author know that their work is Highly appreciated access over seas! ^~^ I love cultivation books in general but I HATE the excessive arrogance, cruelty, and face slapping that I seen in so many cultivation stories in general... I am HIGHLY Grateful that THIS isn't one of those stories! If we could have MORE stories like this I think that more people would read them more often on this site. I currently don't know what rating this has, but if the rating for this story it's as high as I think it is in the Short amount of time that it's been uploaded... Then I think that we need to have more of the same produced for masses. ^~^ Thank you for the chapters and the translations! ^~^

Mortals in an Immortal world with.... NO CANNON FODDER! The Xianxia genera is a fun read - but the pervasive callousness towards "mere mortals" is disturbing. The best stories have the MC casually right any injustice that they personally see (but only if it's convenient or advantageous to them). The worst stories revel in the slaughter and vengeance! Only "geniuses" are worthy of attention and personal rights in so many of these books. This book takes the very Western ideals of equality and justice for all and tackles the morals of the genre.... sideways and slowly. (Head-on confrontation would be stupid - and the MC ain't stupid) I love the fact that Jack does everything within his power to change the hearts-and-minds of those around him but... ONLY what is within his power. This is a lead who knows the virtue of patience and keeping his head down.

The Story takes a normal person from a western world and manages to merge him into a Easter civilisation through an reincarnation without the crazy plot amour power concept of most xianxia novels. The character build up has been great so far. The action is well structured and introduced in subtle manner. The manner character's take on cultivation is the most intriguing that I have read so far.

This is an awesome story. I'm surprised it isn't ranked higher. The world is solidly constructed. The characters are interesting and three dimensional. I look forward to this book every day. It's my favorite book right now. I like it even more than the books from established authors. It really is something I look forward to reading, and I can't wait to see the direction the story goes in!

Currently up to Chapter 52 This story is about a guy towards the end of his life being reborn (starting from the womb!) into a new world that’s, so far, found in your typical cultivation book. If I was to sum this up in a word: Refreshing. I might be biased, due to the fact that I’m in the USA and this reads like someone who is in my part of the world (sayings, expressions, some light mocking of typical occurrences in these novels—like coughing up blood when injured). This means no lost in translation moments with only a few grammatical/sentence structure errors. But it’s not just that. I like the more realistic take on this genre (cultivation). There’s a bit more science/logic to it, which is a bit unique from the handful of books I’ve read. Stability of updates has been solid and the pace of the story itself has been spot on (starting from the womb was a neat twist to the reincarnation backdrop). MC doesn’t have any real over powering/cheat skills (arguably anyone could do what he does), and I haven’t seen much plot armor. He starts weak, and slowly builds up his strength. It’s an enjoyable pace, not too fast and not to slow for me. I very much enjoy the MC going-against-the-grain of the world’s (typically common in this genre) culture of strong kills the weak. The build people up, as oppose to knocking them down. Lastly I like the flash backs to his previous life. It’s a good change of pace when they are intoduced. Other than the minor grammatical errors, I suppose my only criticism is the MC doesn’t stumble much. This is more personal preference, but I like to be surprised. Failure is a good way of surprising me 😀. While always having the right answer can be enjoyable most of the time, it can turn into an overpowering skill if left unchecked. But that’s just me. I also gave World Background 4 stars but only because we just haven’t seen much of the world yet. Keep up the good work! I look forward to seeing this story progress.

I like to keep reading this novel and recommend it as good read. Nice plot that have few loose end and character development that don't lack. The main character stable background which provide a lot of avenue for positive development in this world. I hope it all work out in future.👍

None of the typical chinese bull****(face-smacking, bitches hoarding, treasure/mentor falling out of fucking nowhere) but with the classic transmigration and cultivation goodies. Truly a nice mix of the best of eastern and western storytelling. So if you’re tired of the chinese bull****(god and devil world, legend of who the **** cares) this is the novel for you.

Interesting story. Expecting many good things from this novel. It has a new feel to it compared to other cultivation and second life/rebirth books.
