Whispering Jianghu
Too much amy screen time. Each customer she calls a slur but its okay cause shes cute? I’m sick and tired of her if theres no plot armor she would have got her father killed already. She’s by far the worst character in this book, it was cute at first but now she sounds like a broken alarm. Gtfo my screen. This book deserves a flat 1 for her
The story started with a lot of potential as a father daughter story. Amy starts out cute and a little precocious but towards the end, she becomes a caricature of herself. I suppose Ugly Duckling was going to have is own story arc but that didn't happen. Instead the story went off on a tangent with the harem gathering route, more characters for the sake of more characters. Towards the end, cooking is no longer the main theme, instead it finishes with a James Bond type story where only the MC is involved while Irina, Amy, and all the other characters become stay at home side characters. In the end, guess which country's nationalism raises its head, and makes MC into a god. Hint: Cooking doesn't have anything to do with him becoming a god. Good start but a dismal ending. At least the author tried to tie up loose ends. Would have been good if it had been true to the title, kept up the father daughter dynamic, and created more stories in the restaurant instead of going the standard wuxia route.
it's a good story but the development of the story is completely rubbish at the beginning the story is good but the main character has no power to protect anything he values he just says I will hide behind his daughter I want her to be happy but he has no strength to protect the girl even if he dies the author tried as much as possible to make the main character weak buddha As if it's not enough, he is making zero effort to get stronger even though he has enemies everywhere. It just seems like he's trying to get stronger but there is no effort, just words, nothing else. The main character design may actually be nice, but the story history is extremely slow, but the development is terrible.
A great novel with not much action and has a slow daily life of the father and daughter duo while still being interesting with a few jokes here and there that would probably give you a slight smirk or even make you laugh out loud. I'd say The character developmemt is a bit on the slower side while the world building is absolutely satisfying. Only thing I don't like is how it's supposed to be a "punishment" but ended up more like a blessing.
The book has good plot likeable characters and light humor. the MC doesnt have that ‘being the greatest’ bs. The only problem i can find in the book are the comments of the other readers who turned many minute things into a rince and repeat of twitter. so to any new readers just enjoy it normally and ignore the toxicity and whinging which you will eventually come across
The book is a good read but there is some problems characters feel empty the main character Acts like the world around him is less important than him making the world feel empty they talk about other cities but the world doesn’t feel big I’m on chapter 200 I stop reading it not because but because the Story developed way too slowly I’m on chapter 200 and it only has four dishes the story has no action whatsoever it is a very peaceful book so if you like that go read it
I remember reading couple dozen chaps in and also triedthis again right npw frm the start, however these cooking books usually have a problem with too much repeating structure/plots. Its amazing at start but goes downhill more u read as these novels are usually casual reads sort of like isekais. Eventually u get bored
It's a story of a guy who was a bit of a dick (ok quite a bit dick) who's reincarnated in a fantasy world where he has to live up to the high standards he imposed on others. Complete with a system that can actually be reasoned with and a young daughter who's charm effects everyone it's hard to think of anything negative about it.
