Trove Of Wisdom

"Thanks, Bradley. You'll be in my memory banks. Honored enough for you?"

Bradley grinned. "Not bad. Despite all the yelling, you're still my friend."

Jack patted Bradley on the shoulder and asked, "Where are the others?"

"They're immersed in learning, just not in this magical haven. They haven't stepped in here for their magic lessons. What's your plan with them?" Bradley inquired, curiosity etched on his face. "By the way, what's your game plan, and how was the loot this time?"

"A fruitful haul," Jack responded vaguely, swiftly changing the topic. "I'm throwing a farewell bash for them before I head out. Where are you off to?" Bradley pressed.

"A place far, far away," Jack replied, walking ahead. "Does the Eye have a no-party policy?"

"Absolutely not. In fact, many youngsters in the Eye Club frequently attend various events. It's a good way to showcase magical prowess and attract attention from the opposite sex. As long as they don't spill sensitive info deliberately," Bradley explained. "I finally get why the Eye might be on a decline."

"That's one reason, among others. Can't stop the tides of change, might as well let them enjoy it. It's just adapting to the times," Bradley admitted, showing a nonchalant attitude.

....

Night fell.

Parties, fundamentally, were about food, drinks, fun, and everyone letting loose.

As the nominal guest of honor, Jack became the target of banter from Daniel, Dylan, and the crew.

Unfazed, Jack had nothing to prove about his past accomplishments. Nowadays, getting him tipsy required some seriously potent "wine" with a 100% alcohol content, served rapidly, non-stop. The kind that doesn't give him a moment to breathe.

Besides his extraordinary alcohol tolerance, Jack's body could swiftly process and break down alcohol. If all else failed, he could always resort to a bit of storage space trickery!

Even though everyone present were "serious" magicians well-versed in magic, Jack's use of the storage space didn't leave any magical traces, making it impossible to detect "magic fluctuations."

Where there's a will, there's a magical way.

Soon enough, one by one, Daniel, Dylan, and even Bradley succumbed to the alcohol, while Jack remained unfazed.

"You must've cheated, right?" Hermia, who abstained from drinking, observed with a smirk.

"Nope," Jack shook his head. "At this level, no need for tricks."

"Fair enough," Hermia smiled. "Wanna take a stroll?"

Abstaining from drinking had its perks.

"Can I even say no?" Jack shrugged.

Amidst the group of people sprawled out in drunken slumber, limbs tangled and some emitting loud snores, Jack and Hermia quietly slipped away from the villa.

The bond between them had deepened during the year of teaching, making Hermia Jack's closest friend in the world. However, their relationship remained at a standstill, familiar yet unexplored.

Though they conversed extensively, there were uncharted territories in their connection.

The morning after, Bradley, waking up with a pounding headache, discovered Hermia with slightly reddened eyes.

"That man," Bradley sighed, understanding the situation, "He doesn't belong here."

"Then where does he belong?" Hermia inquired.

"I don't know, but it must be very far away. A place distant."

....

Meanwhile, Jack had already immersed himself in the starry sky. Despite experiencing it numerous times, the cosmic expanse never failed to astonish him. In such surroundings, an overwhelming sense of insignificance washed over people, prompting reflections on the boundlessness of nature and the limitations of human power.

Even with Jack's newfound ability to navigate these worlds effortlessly, in the face of nature, he was but a slightly stronger and faster ant, perhaps not even worthy of the term.

"Huh... the rewards of this world surpass those of the previous ones..."

Jack, not in a rush to utilize his world-traveling opportunity, took a moment to reflect and consolidate the gains of this world.

Accumulating experience points, attaining the magician profession, and resolving the mana deficiency issue were noteworthy, but the most valuable treasure lay in the knowledge he had acquired over the past month.

The Eye lacked a comprehensive magical learning curriculum, likely due to the dwindling magic power in nature and the passage of time. Yet, amidst the remnants, Jack found exploration notes, historical materials, and insights compiled by masters—an invaluable trove of wisdom.
