The Business Deal

Beam Parson, the chairman of Seagull Leather Shoes Company, found himself in his office, his brows furrowed deeply, a sense of helplessness weighing heavily upon him.

From its humble beginnings as a small shoe factory to its current stature, the company had been Beam's life's work. It was his passion and his legacy. But now, an unexpected challenge loomed on the horizon.

Some time ago, Beam had made a firm decision to expand the company's industry and broaden its business horizons. He had his eyes set on acquiring an advertising channel that could catapult the company to new heights. However, what he didn't anticipate was the fierce resistance he encountered from other shoe factories.

The prime advertising spaces he had coveted were swiftly seized by these rival companies, leaving Seagull Leather Shoes Company with nothing but the remnants, the less coveted corners of the advertising market.

Beam understood the critical importance of advertising in the modern era. Without proper exposure, even the most remarkable products would remain hidden in obscurity. It was akin to the finest wine being rendered powerless without the right vessel to showcase its flavor.

Though Seagull's products were of comparable quality to those of their competitors, they couldn't compete in terms of visibility. Now, with valuable advertising channels either blocked or taken, Beam grappled with a daunting problem – how to resolve this predicament?

Frustrated, Beam reached for a stack of newspapers on his desk, skimmed through them hastily, and tossed them aside in annoyance. The available advertising spaces were either obscure corners with negligible traffic or simply unattainable. It seemed like an insurmountable hurdle.

Just as despair began to take hold, a timid knock echoed through the office door, and Beam's assistant entered cautiously. "Sir," she said hesitantly, "someone is here to see you. He mentioned discussing an endorsement for our advertisements."

"Advertising endorsement?" Beam's eyes lit up with renewed hope. "Please, bring him in!"

The visitor, Jack, entered the office, extending his hand in greeting. "Jack," he introduced himself.

"Bim Parson," Beam responded with a firm handshake. He couldn't help but feel a twinge of familiarity. "Tell me more about this advertising space."

"I came across the challenges facing Seagull Company in financial newspapers, which is why I'm here," Jack explained with a warm smile. "I possess a high-traffic advertising space."

"High-traffic advertising space?" Beam attempted to feign indifference, although anticipation simmered beneath the surface. "Continue... And Mr. Jack, have we met before?"

"I believe so," Jack replied, picking up a newspaper and pointing to the article featuring himself and Daniel. "You probably glanced at it briefly and didn't recognize me."

Beam's face brightened as he connected the dots. "Ah, it's you! I saw your picture in the newspapers today. No wonder you seemed familiar."

As Beam recollected the moment, he acknowledged that, being European, he might have overlooked Jack's face due to prosopagnosia towards Asians. Furthermore, he had been in a particularly irritable state at the time.

"As you can see," Jack continued, "I represent a massive traffic source, making it an ideal advertising space."

Beam, however, sighed, his disappointment palpable. "Mr. Jack, with all due respect, I am aware of your substantial traffic, but do you understand why I never considered you for endorsing my products? My concern lies in the sustainability of your popularity and the compatibility of your performance with my shoe products. Using my shoes for magic tricks, for instance, does not effectively convey their functionality and may even detract from your performance."

As Beam voiced his reservations, a sense of resignation settled over him. However, he didn't hastily dismiss Jack. Instead, he continued, "This decision is difficult for me, but I'm afraid I cannot invite you to represent my company."

Jack, undeterred by Beam's initial hesitations, arched an eyebrow and decided not to push further. "If you're interested," he suggested, "perhaps you could witness one of our performances."

He grabbed a pen from the side and jotted down his phone number on the newspaper. "Our next show is scheduled for a week from now. If you have a change of heart, feel free to give me a call anytime."

With this, Jack gracefully rose from his seat and exited Beam's office. As he passed by the female assistant stationed at the door, he snapped his fingers playfully and exchanged a few words in a hushed tone.

Further along his path, Jack continued to work his magic, snapping his fingers and discussing magic tricks with colleagues in a lighthearted manner.

Back in the office, Beam sighed and shook his head, unconvinced that investing in magic endorsements could be a worthwhile endeavor.

While pondering solutions to his company's advertising dilemma, a sudden burst of laughter and chatter from outside disrupted his concentration.

Initially, it was just a faint snicker, easily ignorable. However, it soon escalated, growing louder and livelier, intermingled with the sounds of jovial conversation.

Beam couldn't help but furrow his brow in confusion. "What's going on?"

As the CEO, he was earnestly contemplating ways to secure a brighter future for his company within the confines of his office. Yet, here were his employees not only failing to focus on their work but also seemingly engaged in lively, unprofessional activities right outside his door.

Fury welled up within Beam, and he abruptly stood, striding toward the door with determination. Throwing it open, he fixed a cold, piercing gaze on the source of the commotion.

And then...

Despite his dramatic entrance, the group of employees, including his assistant, paid him no heed. They didn't even bother to turn around.

Beam: "..."

"I-I-Ahem!" he coughed loudly, growing increasingly frustrated. If this continued, his voice would likely be all but gone before he achieved any response from them.

"What on earth are you all doing?" Beam finally erupted in a thunderous roar.

"Oh, it's the boss!" His assistant finally swiveled around, spotting Beam.

To Beam's surprise, his usually timid and reticent assistant didn't rush to turn off her phone and offer an apology. Instead, she took the initiative, waving at Beam warmly.

"Boss, come have a look! This magic trick is absolutely astonishing!" She beckoned enthusiastically, her eyes gleaming with excitement.
