The story is called "Dragon's Ascent" so unless you add Devil in front of it, it would be misleading. A lot of authors make their mc join the Rias because that's the easiest way for their mc to join the waiting game with Raiser. I hope you will not fall for the same trap and keep your mc free. If you grab Boosted Gear, Rias' rating game with Raiser won't happen for a few years, so you can take your time with this plot point.
Lol. He is right to refuse. All the benefits of being a devil can be achieved through his Sacred gear and alchemy. He can live longer than the average devil by using alchemy to create his own version of Seven Deadly Sins Fountain of Youth. For magic, he is already creating his with his Sacred gear. For status, he will eventually reach beyond that of a high class devil like the Phenex and without restrictions like weakness to light or having to listen to a council
I don’t care if he joins the peerage or not as long as the story is interesting I can see where the mc is coming from even though don’t like he being a slave being with rias is defiantly better then overs and makes more sense the people saying why don’t he go drink the potion of super cultivation or turn it a dragon like mc knows how to do any of that just managed to make ice and minor potions he's decently need help of he wants to make anything worthwhile
I really hope that the MC refuse to turn into a devil and instead reach the peak while only being a human magician. I understand that it will take him a long time while being a human, and can skip all that by joining Rias' peerage. But why bother give him a sacred gear that allows him to become jack-of-all-trades master of all and endless potential if you in the end going to turn him into a devil? You may as will re-write the story with the MC not possessing system-based sacred gear and instead make him experiment and re-create T.V. show moves and magics with the demonic energy that uses the devil's imagination.
Really Hope the MC wont Join a peerage and try to get the benefits by hard Work afterall He can basically make elixiers now so why Not try to give himself the language ability or Something Like Imagination Magic afterall conceptual potions should be possible by using alchemical runes with These meanings to make Them maybe Just difficult i recon Immortality is still far Off but such simpler Things are defintivly do able...
I dont see why the auther is bothering to ask us about rias peerage when he already made his choice judgeing by the fact that auther is likeing comments that say joining a peerage is the logical choice for the benifets i already stated my opinion that only an idoit would willingly join a peerage with my reasoning being in either last chapter or the chapter befores comment section
For people who are suggesting that the MC joins a peerage, honestly ask yourself, if you were in his position with his power and potential, will you honestly enslave yourself, for power and resources that being smart with your decisions will already give you? If yes, then I'm really sorry for you as a human. If no, then you have a functioning brain.

I thought it was stupid that he didn't join her nobility, just the positive points, it's an easy way to get financed and gain rare materials, in addition to all the advantages of being a demon, from increased power to almost immortality, in addition to the protection it offers, in addition to Rias. being probably the best option for a master, she barely restricts her nobility and to very few obligations, she is much better than the Sona group who are forced to do useless work on the student council or some sadistic master, I honestly want to see his reasoning behind his He refuses to hope that it isn't something as ridiculous as knowing his worth, after all, knowing how to negotiate better doesn't negate the fact that he is passing up a great opportunity for easy growth, apart from the possibilities that the blood of Rias and her group offers.
