The wishes could use some work. The glasses wish? It would have been easier to just wish for a shapeshifting ability similar to Mystique’s so you could alter your face when you’re using your powers. Having the power dependent on an item is silly. The regenerative power? While it’s nice you can regrow limbs, there are better regeneration powers. Majiin Buu, Cell, and others can regen from a single cell much quicker than Deadpool. The other thing that’s concerning is you didn’t wish for protection for your DNA. The MC is definitely going to be cloned. That will be annoying.
It was hard to read, for me. Do I like heroes? Yes, but real heroes, those that help anyone (that deserves it) in need. That don't ignore someone's evil because they were a suite and work in the government, those that is willing, capable and ready to do what has to be done to protect others. Superman is not that. Superman and his fake ideals are a result of comic writing realizing they can't have him kill villains because they can't write that many villains, because each comic novel would end in 2-3 chapters as he yeets the villains out of life with some laser beam from space (which I get, they were out to make money. It's the idiots that look at it as a realistic ideal.... not as long as humanity is around). Reading about this MC and the way he described flying with the weight of the world on his shoulder, cringe. I read some Superman novels, a true hero, does what others are incapable (by choice or power), for example: Superman in the Multiverse (MHA, DC, and Marvel). Is it the best novel? No, but it has an hero, that when he finds some type of villains that he knows no stupid asylum will keep them, he deals with them himself (permanently or super prison he controls). Now this might not be that type of novel, I am just pointing out that first impression, that is what I see.
I would have changed the wish a little, the first one was cool, as it saves the mc from creating immunity to the weaknesses mentioned, because with time superman can overcome these difficulties depending on the version, the second wish I would change to something like he erdar the divinity of hal and the entire Kryptonian pantheon, Lastly he could be truly free, like not one power could control his will or destiny, along with that he would ask for some protection against interference so that very powerful beings when discovering their power and freedom do not like trying to kill him or something.
For me… the draw of the ‘3 wishes’ type of story stems from the whole genie in a lamp thing 🧞♂️. I remember fantasizing about the best ways to get the most out of the wishes (while ignoring the moral of the story). As such, when I see an author making such trivial wishes is frustrating… especially when the one granting those wishes doesn’t seem to place a limit on the scale of the wish. Personally, I would ask if there are any limitations to the wishes I am being given. This step is to ensure that my greed doesn’t upset the one giving me this opportunity… otherwise a wish akin to infinite wishes could pretty much enslave this entity to carry out my bidding. I presume such a wish would be null, so I would try for something a little more comprehensive to get the most out of each wish. I mean, why not go straight to the point and wish for the three O’s. Omniscience, omnipotence and omnipresence. 🤔 or simply wish for omnipotence as it would actually include the others… If that’s rejected… “I wish I had the ability to always be able to do anything I want, without causing any negative consequences to myself, simply because I want to do it.” -or- “There are some really wonderful abilities that I fantasized about having in my life, such as… *blah blah blah* and I wish I had all of those abilities.” -or- “I wish to have a powerful game-like system that grants me the ability to *blah blah blah* as part of a starter package.” 🤔on a side note: I am pretty sure the whole wish thing originated from the concept of making a deal with the devil or selling your soul… that said, I think genies were derived by the greek mythology of the djinn that were created in a similar fashion to humans but instead of using clay as the base ingredient the gods used smokeless fire (or rootless fire). 🤔if the djinn were something akin to demons then the mythos could probably be different perspectives of the same thing… so it’s probably irrelevant to make a distinction. Anyway…
