Chen Dong
at first this novel caught my attention and I read through the released chapters (500-600 or so) it stopped being translated for a while, and I since started reading again after it got back to ~1300. unfortunately the translation quality has taken a serious dive in a bad way. repeat words, inconsistent genders (introduces a character as a he, then in the same paragraph swaps to she and back over and over.) even some of the long standing characters get referred to as the wrong gender. while I think the novel is decent, current translations are ruining it completely.
It a good read. The only problem I have is that it’s xuanhuan. Now I don’t have much of a problem with that, but it doesn’t sit right with me when the main characters can get so strong so quickly in a year when it would take others ten times more than that. Thats the only problem. Well to say it’s problem is not really true but nevertheless the book is great.
great quality wishing for more chapters the story develops at a decent pace and characters are incredible and entertaining there are som very funny lines 2 as for the world background fine depth could be better but you could say that about everything overall my favorite read for now GOOD JOB I RECOMMEND THIS
A fantastic fresh world with a new and fascinating setting. The lack of a reincarnated MC is a breath of fresh air, even the advancement system is different and interesting in its own right. The MC is entertaining and has a more grounded personality than most, possessing actual emotions that are quite real and not so mechanical. The frequent fights are dramatic, exciting and thrilling with the only fault of the MC not being at great risk at most of them however in the battles where his life is on the line, the author brings his novel to a whole new level. So far almost every part of this novel has left me satisfied with the translations being stable, the story gripping and the plot ever moving. If there is any complaint I have it's that they play the *SPOILER ALERT I GUESS* "Chu Feng is dead" card too many times.
Great novel. Has a bit of a slow start up to help build the world and to set up the story (not bad if you appreciate slice of life pacing). Later through the story things start to get more exciting. To expand on this the beginning setting of the story takes place in modern era, there is electronics, tv, cars, cellphone, rockets, etc..... But strange things happen to the world and we see how it affects the main character chu feng and the world around him (this is where the xianxia, wuxia, fantasy, magic, watever etc begins to happen) That saying "there's an elephant in the room" is what i would summarize the quality of this translation. The translation quality is very ..... unlikeable, and I'am keeping this in relative with many other translated novels that i've read here on Qi and WWorld. At this point, i don't know if talking about this issue/problem will do any good since they are the only ones translating this novel but i do feel it needs to be addressed considering the potential of this novel could've been so much greater had the translation not been so ...... well anyways, check out the novel.
translation quality is poor, or just bad in general. lots of made-up terms, or incredibly unused and obsolete ones, like incarnadined, leeward.... worldbuilding in the start is wierd, but i'm not sure if it's just because of the bad translation, so i'll give 3 stars. but really, the translator, though a cool guy/gal for doing the translations, makes it unnecessarily difficult to read, which really drags the story down.
I am done with this book...god.. I so hate the logic and the way of overly expressing everything in such novels ( mostly Chinese). Like - he was astounded and perplexed.. or her jade legs and busty body oh and don't forget to mention about her figure, maybe even height because even if u mentioned it thousand times it still is needed to be recounted. And for every little thing tht will happen there will be so much reaction.. like a bud has formed on a tree the reaction will be - he was so surprised and delighted.. again when the bud grows to flower- he was perplexed and amazed.. and what not.. these few chapters I have only been skimming through. I have been hating how he still acts like a good puppy for her ex lover and even was about to die once trying to save her. But she still gives him cold shoulder and he still keeps licking her boots.. then being a submissive and subservient to nearly prostrating himself before his parents and the ox.. he does jokes around but the way he behaves pisses me off.. still it was tolerable. Every mention of a beauty in every corner of the story with their celestial temperament, cold faces but beautiful as flower and what not gibberish.. yuck..I am gonna puke.. he becomes enraptured by womens beauty left and right..and every beauty MUST have either a good impression on him or something between the line.. . Then there was 4- 5 chapters on blind date that he was forced to go.. then there is his attitude that he will feed others around him his benefits and himself starve.. like he never took a single pine cone seeds.. one will undergo mutation at 4-5 seeds he could have eaten a few but no.. he is like- hey I know u. U r very nice. Take these seeds.. u will grow stronger.. and oh this was ur bow right. Though u gave this bow to me and I got to know that this bow is ancient and powerful, keep this, it will keep u safe.. and what not...damn these authors for making us build such expectations of seeing a cold mc who in the written world of war, selfishness and fight every corner will not focus on getting stronger but delve in his ass licking of his exes and people around him.. make ur characters in accordance to the world u build..
I simply find the mixture of cultures, religion and style of cultivation in this book interesting. The story does not only focus on a single country but worldwide which is a delight as you delve deeper into the book. A big plus point that i personally like is that the MC does not simply get stronger non-stop (well for a long time i really thought that would only be the case and the concept on cultivation of obtaining opportunities in this world prevented my interest in this book from waning) however on a happy note the MC does experience pitfalls in life and that teaches him a lot. So there is some character development but not a heavy focus on that aspect. The mysteries waiting to be solved is the reason i kept on reading this. So give this book a chance and i think you’ll find yourself interested in the world portrayed as well :)
