Nah, Leonel is realizing and reconstructing important core points that will likely drive a big chunk of his future decisions and his personality itself. "Not being swayed", on the other hand, is stupid. Life is the embodiment of evolution and change: if you cling to something that holds you back, you're just going to stagnate then and there. For me, the shape of righteousness Leonel was using to argue with the emperor is truly a piece of **** that's going to get himself killed. Whatever we humans may invent and believe, our actions will be forever driven by selfishness. Whether it is to protect our ideals, that which we think belongs to us or ourselves. Of course, there may be selfless people, but I bet the ratio of those you've met throughout your life is inferior to 1%

The emperor has a point. Power isn't held by being selfless, he is a very ambition man from the descriptions. He seems like the human embodiment of The 48 laws of power. Nothing is black and white in such a complex nuanced world. The selfless rarely keep the power they acquire.

If the empire was bold enough to keep the imprisoned savants alive with risk of them getting free, their day to day citizens would be no brainers. But Leonel (and us readers) only know as much of the novel’s world as is revealed. So while interactions like are engaging, they can quickly lose their impactfulness when they occur repeatedly, and I hope that doesn’t become the case. Leonel isn’t naive so much as he simply lacks knowledge and context. I just hope he won’t have to learn by having his brain rattled at every opportunity

I could probably rant on this for a while, but I won’t. I’m just going to add that no one is right. As what is right and wrong is dependent on your beliefs and perspective. Frankly I’m really happy that leo is taking a full chapter to consider what hes learned because that shows he’s not stagnant and is willing to consider the perspective of the otherside. Instead of what other stagnant protagonist do, which is brush off everything else and consider their response as the only right answer.

This is why I keep reading this novel. This no doubt entering the moral dilemma there is no right answers. The emperor has his needs but those needs can get in conflict with another persons needs. So you can go back and forth but in the real world it aint black or white.

so... being an emperor doesn't come with noblesse oblige, what a lacklustre futuristic empire... the emperor killing the invalids in his domain that are a consistent threat until eradicated entirely, is supposed to make his actions more reasonable? what kind of stupid logic is that? it's his empire, it's literally his job to do that, especially if his basis for being the emperor is simply "I'm strong, I has throne now", the fact that terrain got so close to his seat in this case makes him the most underwhelming emperors I've read about, and I'm including the scheming emperor of cliché isekai concepts that banishes the OPMC because they start weak, at least that emperor pretends not to be trash... Leo not giving the dictionary away to help the weak is illogical and stupid, it's a guidebook on how to be an epic iron man using the skills of his family, it providing information is just an add on to it's actual purpose; teaching him how to force craft, which is an extremely rare capability that only the Morales clan can easily excel in... the only actual valid statement is that Leo's dad is obviously not innocent, like he naively wants to believe, and this being the only actual valid statement makes the emperor's criticism all the more pathetic, the emperor is weak before his dad, so all the posturing is basically just the equivalent of a sect elder of a cultivation novel blasting killing intent at the main character before remembering he has a face and then scurrying off... I was really hoping he'd be an awesome character but a garbage emperor, or a garbage character but an awesome emperor, guess he's just garbage instead... :/

Everything in the world is simple when you come down to roots. You do not have to think what is right and what is wrong. People thought about it for 1000-ds of years and formulated it all in 10 commandments. 4 of them about God and 6 about you. Those 6 are: 1. Respect Farther and Mother. 2. Do not kill innocent. (Pisces sold MC friends location endagering their lives. That is indirect kill/help to kill. The sin worthy of death).3. Do not commit adultery. 4. Do not steal. 5. Do not lie. 6. Do not wish what is not yours. (Monet wished something from MC. That is a sin worthy of death.). You also can not judge noone but yourself and your children/family. Unless people place you in position to judge. Your main responsibility is yourself and your family happiness. Then come friends. Even if you kill millions but there was no innocent between them you are in the right. You are free to kill anybody who tried to kill you or the people you care about. Remember - everything is simple. Do not bother about philosophy just do it.

I believe the Emperor has pulled off a successful deflection here, probably intentionally brought him when he was tired and rattled to help get through.
