MC is entirely too pathetic for my liking. For however many chapters I read, he remains immobilized and at the mercy of the women around him while being unable to do anything at all. He’s a literal toy to them and continues to be taken advantage of. When he does regain his mobility and is able to talk again, he doesn’t even express dissatisfaction or anger at being played with. Skipped ahead a few chapters to see if the situation gets better, but there’s no hope of that. What OP MC? He’s a loser.
Story isn’t bad, but it’s simply a rehashing of Top Tier Providence. The description states that this takes inspiration from that novel, but it’s entirely too similar aside from the beginning and the characters themselves obviously. There’s no appeal to this novel if you’ve already read Top Tier Providence in my opinion.
Really hate stuff like this in novels. Primarily because when things like this do happen, more often than not, the MC is so quick to forgive for the simple fact that they’re his family. Being family does not excuse the pain they’ve caused him by letting him believe that Mei was dead for all these years and the tears he has shed. Not to mention the nerve they have to always be on his back about stuff. They’ve failed Ren. When the truth does come to light, I really hope he doesn’t easily brush the matter under the rug. Lingshi keeping it a secret from him however can’t be blamed as it isn’t her secret to share to begin with. They simply placed the burden on her for no reason whatsoever.
Went back and checked, their home isn’t referred to as a village, but rather a town- Golden Bloom Town.
