in my opinion, yes, they are living a mediocre life. because no matter what they do, theyre gonna die like every other person here. but in a fantasy world, you may even acquire immortality and such. nothing that can be done here can compare to the slim possibility of becoming a god-like figure or attaining god-like powers.

you never know what kind of strange fruits or artifacts or powers may exist in an isekai world. and i would rather try to get strength than be mediocre with no future on this planet like 99.99% of the population. i know its not handed to me on a silver platter, its through hard work, pain and effort. but i would rather go through that a thousand fold than be mediocre with nothing to do in life but work and get money.
