Started off ok but have read up to chapter 76 and so much random shit has been thrown into the story it’s ridiculous. Like he meets a wolf pack then 15 chapter later the leader of said pack is betrayed by another pack for no discernible reason and for some reason betrayed by all the other wolf packs, but it’s ok becuase he’s got something to do with the god of death???? There is no foreshadowing whatsoever. And the mc doesn’t even seem to find the rest of the pack only finds two others and fucks off???? But then some sage from an empire says there’s a dangerouss beast that could threaten humanity and sends in a thousand troops??? Like author wtf it seems like whenever u run out of what to write u throw random shit in for the shock factor? not to mention the mc despite being a murderer is such a coward and has the personality of a wet paper bag. Like his system could be so broken but he utilises like 10% of it properly and he is really not smart.
Basically the story itself is extremely enjoyable however I had to reduce points becuase of the occasional bad grammar in the book it’s not super bad but especially in the earlier chapters it is noticeable. Another thing is around chapter 340-370 the story switches to a new group all of a sudden for those chapters which was super irritating and the overall arc 340-370 was apart of was by far the worst part of the book, so I ended up skimming past most of it. However the rest of the book is extremely enjoyable. Also there are some minor time skips in the story however the skips are well placed when the mc has, or is doing that’s about to overstay its welcome, also helps to make the story more logical which I appreciate. The mc himself is ruthless and smart, there hasn’t been I time in the story where has done something dumb, at least from what I remember am currently up to date (chapter 527). None of the side characters are annoying either and the mcs love interest is a decently written character, the system is also good and gives him stuff that is really good but not story breaking. Overall: Slight grammar issues, especially first 100ish chapters, really good story, aside from one arc, solid side characters, really solid mc, world background is logical and follows its rules, author has really well thought out and dealt with any inconsistencies, mc is op but not story breaking, and stuff just makes sense and works. Beginning 10 or so chapters don’t do the best introduction but trust me it’s worth getting thru. The story isn’t super original but the stuff it uses it uses in basically the best way possible.
The start is admittedly a little slow however it does get better and the story is now moving at a better pace (currently on chapter 524). However each adventure the group goes on is interesting if there is one thing I will say is that in the first 50 or so chapters there are a couple of chapters of when it’s just the group grinding however when it gets into later into the chapters the fights become gradually better written and more satisfying overall story is currently 4.5 but the first 100 chapters is about a 3.75-4. So if u are in the first hundred chapters and u don’t have much else to read I would still recommend continuing as long as you like some parts of the story.
Gonna be real ain’t the biggest fan of the mc but the plot hard Carrie’s the book, combining MMORPG and a monster evolution genres is pretty interesting but the comedy doesn’t really hit, for me personally, and jezz dying felt forced and kind of cringed me out with how much the mc overreacted, I personally prefer a bit more of a cold blooded mc, plus his intelligence hurts me sometimes, mc makes questionable decisions and is a bit of a scaredy cat to say the least, am only around 35 chapters in tho so hopefully gets better
