I don't think a kid would know what 1 up means, but you do you.
+ 1 Glalie. Because Glalie has a better Mega than Abomasnow.
Qin Shi Huang from Records of Ragnarok?
For me this really only applies to type specialists. Because if you know the strengths and weaknesses of they type you specialize in it doesn't matter what mon you use, you can make them dangerous.
May with Courtney as a close second.
Would it be type energies? And he have Ground energy that's why it's orange?
My picks for this are Gastrodon, Nidoking and Garchomp. Gastrodon because of water transportation, unless you are planning for him to get a Swampert. Nidoking because it's just more versatile than a Camerupt. Garchomp because it's just better than Claydol in more ways than one. The only advantage that Claydol have on Garchomp is that it can teleport.
Garchomp can provide that all arounder role that you want for his team tbh. It has a solid bulk that can tank super effective hits, and while it's coverage is a bit small it compensates it with how hard it hits. Also only Steel and Fairy really resists Dragons and Steels are not even a problem cos of the ground typing. It can also fly. But as one commenter said, it's not really feasible with his situation right now, as dragons are expensive to train and they also take too long to reach their final evo so if you ever consider to add a Garchomp to his team have him get it later to the story when he's finally stabilized and an Elite. For me personally I would like him to have both Torterra and Swampert than a Garchomp.
Basically most of his defensive skills provide him an ungodly amount of resistance and regeneration that it practically makes him immortal unless you one shot him, which is impossible even with his low HP as I think of his skills transforms damages he receives to reduce his mana instead of his hp and he have many of that. And he can use all elements for his magic. And he can use all weapons with his Weapon Saint skill.
