The Seeker System

After the 'Century of Phenomena', humanity had declined by more than two thirds it's population and eventually pushed back into 'Zones' where they were forced to live in 'District Cities'. The world outside the zones had become desolate wastelands inhospitable for them. The 'Century of Phenomena' brought plagues and destruction. Turning most plants and animals into horrid mutant beasts, unleashing monstrous creatures from 'Gates', and turning undead, the fallen population of humanity. But, it also brought hope for the survivors to endure the warped landscape. It brought forth an explosive advancement in technology and filled the earth with magic. Humans even experienced 'Evolutions' only seen in fantasy. It took half a century before that Hell unleashed and forced humans back. Now, evolved/awakened humans are known as 'Seekers' that delve into the wastelands within their zones to scrounge for treasures, artifacts, and anything useful. They also clear 'Gates' to procure the same. Life within the 'District Cities' was almost the same as before the Phenomena. Seekers are the heroes of society, and hold much influence. Connor W. Michael is one such Seeker. But, he is the weakest to ever awaken. Abused as a lowly 'Porter', he endures things worse than any mutant, monster. or zombie... Human Cruelty. But this is his beginning, the beginning of his journey from The Weakest to The Strongest.

Contestant

Connor was led into one of the buildings, the man outside gave Connor a glare, but gave the girl a nod. Connor was beyond confused.

"What time is it?" Connor asked the girl.

"Almost nine in American." The girl replied. He was still being led by hand. They were in a concrete corridor, with pipes along the ceiling and walls, and they were heading down.

Connor could hear cheering from further in, but they ended up turning demon a corridor and the entered a room. The room had a simple bench with a sink in it.

"Sit." The girl directed.

'Bossy little girl.'

"Who are you?" Connor asked, sitting as directed.

"I'm your manager for tonight. Call me M, for Magia." M replied. She stuck Connors punk cat shirt into the sink and started ripping it into strips. Then she took one and wetted it, and set to washing Connor up.

"Bruised Jaw, busted lips, and broken and bruised ribs... but they're healing as I'm watching... What Class are you? Rogue?" M muttered the last bit.

"What did you mean by, 'My Manager for Tonight?'" Connor questioned.

"Its exactly as it means. You were asking about Fight Rings, I noticed you, so here we are. I got you a spot in the early fights, so I'm your manager." M answered. She was a slender girl. But oddly charming. She had pale blue hair that flowed past her shoulders, her eyes were a sharp and light purple. She had very soft features.

"Why's a fifteen year old managing fighters?" Connor accidently mumbled aloud. This received him a sharp jab in his broken, healing, ribs. It didn't bother him, but he still looked up rather confused.

"I'm not fifteen! I'm an adult!" M pouted, like a child.

'That's what children do though...'

"Alright, that's all I can do for you. You'll be fighting the first round. Which starts at nine fifteen, or when one of the warm up fighters go down." M stated.

"Ah, but I didn't want to fight. I was looking for... a fighter. I'm not really into fights anyway." Connor corrected.

"What! Ugh! But I already booked you!" M groaned.

"I'm sorry, maybe you can find someone to fill in." Connor shrugged.

"I can't just fill someone in to replace you! Besides, I booked you prior to getting you to follow me." M talked downwards on the last bit.

"Well, terribly sorry." Connor replied.

"Hah, the Ten gold Magia prize... why must it always elude me." M sighed. Connor stopped.

"Ahem, Ten Gold?" Connor asked.

"Hmm, well to be precise, it's thirty gold. But I get a third as a manager, at least for the championship winner for tonight. Tonight is the No holds barred brawling. It's especially dangerous tonight, because killing is allowed." M replied.

"So if I win, I get twenty gold?" Connor deduced.

"That would be accurate." M answered.

"I'm a fighter." Connor sat back down. M stared at him for a blank moment, and then a knowing grin crossed her face.

"I look forward to managing you... uh?" M held her hand out, but then paused.

"Its Connor." Connor shook her hand.

"Not Tonight it isn't." M stated, just as a knock sounded from the door. She opened it and was handed an item. She said some words in another language, closed the door and turned around. Holding the item out to Connor.

"Tonight you are 'Rainbow Kitten'." M smiled. In her hands was a cat mask with rainbow fur. Connor stared at it, it was obviously very cartoony, but the fur felt real.

"There's no-"

"Twenty Gold prize." M Interjected.

"I'm Rainbow Kitten." Connor said as he put the mask on. It fixed snugly to his face and adjusted until he could see perfectly.

"Good. Let's go." M nodded once while smiling.

Connor was waiting in a room filled with other fighters, though all of them were wearing masks, they were mostly half face or something cool. He was getting quite the stares. A tall slim woman was going around, asking their stage name and then taking their rank via a reader.

"Stage name?" The woman asked while holding the reader out.

"Rainbow Kitten." Connor replied and put his hand on the reader. Laughter erupted. The reader read High E Rank.

"Okay, Rainbow Kitten, High E Rank. Good Luck." She moved on after.

"I envy whoever faces you man. It'll be so easy. You're the lowest ranked here." The man, 'Crimson Soul', laughed. He had on a half red half black face mask that looked tactical.

"Its not the Rank, but the Skills that determine an outcome." Another man stood up for Connor. He wore a leprechaun mask, and he had just come back from fighting.

'Finally, someone else who's wearing a stupid mask.'

"Oh, is that so?" Crimson scoffed.

"Well, I guess you'll find out. I feel like Rainbow here, might have more to offer than his Rank." Leprechaun replied.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMAN, FOR OUR FIRST ACTUAL FIGHT, PLEASE WELCOME.... PRINCE ICE, VERSUS, RAINBOW KITTEN!" Both Connor stood up and walked out of the room and towards the stage.

The stage was actually a dirt pit with a barrier around it. Connor entered the opening made in the barrier, and stood across from a man with a ice blue mask that only showed his eyes. He was built like Robert, but taller.

"Rainbow Kitten?" Ice asked, humor lining his voice.

"I think you came out by mistake. They called a Prince, not a Boar." Connor returned with a Taunt.

[Taunt Leveled Up.]

'For real?'

The Fight bell rung, and Ice rushed towards Connor angrily. Connor sidestepped and watched Ice slam into the barrier behind him.

"Yo, I'm sorry. That was my mistake. You're more like a bull." Connor apologized.

[Taunt Leveled Up.]

"ARGH!" Ice ran at Connor, and jumped forward, his arm pulled back. Connor ducked and let him pass over him.

"Is it the red color on my mask?" Connor turned around and pointed to his head.

[Target Successfully Taunted.]

"I'm going to kill youuu!" Ice screeched and blindly ran towards Connor. Connor stepped forward into range crouched and then brought his left fist up while twisting his body back to the right. His fist connected solidly with the jaw of Prince. Prince flew past Connor and hit the ground.

The crowd was stunned. But quickly they began cheering. Rainbow Kitten was announced the winner, and Prince was carried out. As Connor headed back to the waiting area, he was stopped by M.

"I thought you said you weren't much of a fighter?" She shook him while smiling widely.

"No, I said I wasn't into fighting." Connor replied.

"Your words and actions don't match. You were lying, weren't you." M pointed out.

"Indeed." Though no one could see it, Connor was grinning widely. Fighting... was a bit fun.
