The Seeker System

After the 'Century of Phenomena', humanity had declined by more than two thirds it's population and eventually pushed back into 'Zones' where they were forced to live in 'District Cities'. The world outside the zones had become desolate wastelands inhospitable for them. The 'Century of Phenomena' brought plagues and destruction. Turning most plants and animals into horrid mutant beasts, unleashing monstrous creatures from 'Gates', and turning undead, the fallen population of humanity. But, it also brought hope for the survivors to endure the warped landscape. It brought forth an explosive advancement in technology and filled the earth with magic. Humans even experienced 'Evolutions' only seen in fantasy. It took half a century before that Hell unleashed and forced humans back. Now, evolved/awakened humans are known as 'Seekers' that delve into the wastelands within their zones to scrounge for treasures, artifacts, and anything useful. They also clear 'Gates' to procure the same. Life within the 'District Cities' was almost the same as before the Phenomena. Seekers are the heroes of society, and hold much influence. Connor W. Michael is one such Seeker. But, he is the weakest to ever awaken. Abused as a lowly 'Porter', he endures things worse than any mutant, monster. or zombie... Human Cruelty. But this is his beginning, the beginning of his journey from The Weakest to The Strongest.

Connor sat back down in the waiting area. Leprechaun approached him and held out his hand. Connor took it.

"I knew you had skills. Rainbow Kitten huh? I'm Crazy Irish." Irish stated. He wore green sweats with white stripes on either side, and a green tuxedo t-shirt that hugged tightly. His shoes were also green and white.

"Why are the names so weird?" Connor asked.

"This is Japan man, well, was Japan. They got one crazy naming sense." Irish replied.

"I see." Connor said simply. Compared to everyone else, he was beginning to realize he was the only shirtless fighter.

"I gotta ask, why are you shirtless?" Irish asked, Connor could sense he was smiling.

"It got ripped up. I wasn't given another." Connor replied.

"Yo... Connor?" Irish suddenly asked.

"I'm Rainbow Kitten. But, normally, yes." Connor replied.

"Its me... Robert." Robert pointed at himself.

"Ah. I was actually looking for you. But then I got roped into this." Connor explained.

"Yep, you're the only person that talks with such strain like that. So how did the orphanage go?" Robert sat next to Connor and asked.

"I found a Portable Portal. Got caught by some cronies, and escaped here in a pink cat shirt and a rainbow unicorn hat. M spotted me asking about these fights, and... you can guess the rest." Connor put just a little extra effort into the conversation.

"Hold on, let me process to guess the missing details... You went to the orphanage, found a Portable Portal but got caught by some bad people, who were most likely after said Portal. You somehow escaped them, but they chased after.

So you changed into a pink cat shirt and a rainbow hat and escaped here. While you were asking about Fight Ring you were spotted by a 'Manager', and she dubbed you 'Rainbow Kitten'. The reason why you stayed is most likely for the prize money." Robert perfectly guessed.

"Are you a fucking psychic?" Connor scooted away a little and asked incredulously.

"No, I just somehow got used to the way you talk. So, where did the Portal lead? Or did it get taken before then?" Robert inquired.

"That's why I was looking for you. You wanted to know what experiments were happening." Connor answered.

"Whoa, wait. You mean... that Portal probably leads to the labs that were never found?" Robert asked excitedly.

"Its highly probable." Connor nodded.

"Wow, well, I'll see you after the fights. You're probably up next again. I'll watch from the stands, since I was just a warm up." Robert stood up and left. Connor sighed.

'How long is this event anyway?'

[Store Unlocked. Would you like to open?: Yes]

"What the... so random. Yes." Connor was used to the transparent blue screen and just accepted that usually 'Yes' opens something good.

A new screen popped up in front of Connor.

[The Store is exclusively created for the User. All items and skills purchasable is unique to the User. Courtesy of Mercury, god of Commerce. All purchases made via Favor.]

Connor stared at the screen.

'So many gods. And why?'

[Favor: 230]

'That's alot of Favor! Let's browse!'

Connor found out it wasn't alot of Favor.

'Why's everything so expensive?'

The cheapest items were a few low grade skills, being 100 Favor each. Level Potions that were relatively cheap, 10 Favor each. And a question mark for 100 Favor, read above was the word, 'Gacha'.

'Probably wouldn't do much for me. Might have been Possible earlier.'

Connor bought five items, because why not.

[Gained Unique Skill: Mana Coating (Level: 1)- Coat objects, weapons or body parts in mana to give them more power/strength/damage by 15%.]

[Purchased Level Potion ×3. 25% Chance to Level up exponentially! 75% Chance it's just bitter.]

"Is there a bathroom?" Connor asked the lady that was walking around offering water.

"Yes, right there." She pointed at a single door in the corner.

'That... has that always been there?'

"Thanks." Connor stood up and walked to the stall.

'At least there's a door.'

He entered and closed the door behind him. He then pulled out all the vials and potions he just got. The Level Potions were a dark purple and the Black Blood was exactly as expected. The Potions were only half filled, while the vials were full to the top.

The vials were as long as Connors hand from the tip of his middle finger to his wrist and a full inch in diameter. The Potions were like medium sized beakers. Connor opened a potion and downed it. It was bitter. The second gave him two full levels. He then took the tops off of the vials and began downing them two at a time.

After the eighth, it suddenly burned, badly, all of them tasted like how undead smelled. He had one Potions and two vials left.

'Ah, apparantly the vials had a timed activation... let's mix these.'

Connors head was spinning as he uncorked both vials and the Potion, poured the vials into the Potion, capped it and shook.

[Gained Unique Skill- Demon Alchemy (Level: 1)- You don't follow rules. You do as you please, fuck consequences. Random mixures of Potions have a 10% success rate. There's also an 31% Chance to create a Mortally Lethal concoction.]

Connor stared at the dark liquid bubbling in the bottle.

'That's concerning... But, I Desire strength!'

Connor downed the Potion. Immediately, he regretted it. His insides felt vast if they were boiling and melting inside of him. He collapsed on the floor, his head spinning and reeling from the pain. After about five minutes, the pain subsided and Connor was able to move and see properly.
