The Package

I yawned as I slowly crawled out of bed and started getting dressed with the now crazy man's clothes that I stole. I looked over at the table top clock and saw that the time is about a half hour before eight. I then proceeded to casually walk downstairs to the kitchen, to see what options are available for breakfast. As I walked towards the kitchen, I noticed Kyle was not yet awake as his bedroom door was still tightly shut.

When I reached the kitchen, I went to open the fridge; only to find it empty. Next I went to open the cabinets, they were also empty.

"Huh that's odd, why is there no food at all in the kitchen. Hell there isn't even any cooking equipment nor utensils." I pondered out loud as I walked out of the kitchen towards the living room.

I guess I'll just wait here until he awakens. I didn't have to wait long, about ten minutes after I sat down, he started walking down the stairs and into view.

"Good Morning, I was looking for food but noticed you ain't got anything in there." After I said that he noticed me sitting in the living room.

"Get ready to go, we will be eating out on the way there. Leaving in five minutes." He declared as he yawned then walked towards the back office that is past the living room.

A few minutes later we were sitting in his big silver colored truck, that was definely oversized for just the two of us. While I was sitting there and he was starting the car, I noticed he had placed a covered package in the back seat.

"Hey Kyle, what's that in the back there?"

"Nothing, don't worry about it. It will stay with me at all times, got it."

"Yeah, got it boss"

It felt weird that he did not want me to know about this seemingly important package when my job is to protect him, but oh well he's paying me so it's not my place to question it. With the ending of that we then set out on the road.

We were only on the road for a good hour before we stopped at nice diner to get breakfast. I wanted to ask why he brought the package inside also but I held it in, so I don't piss off my employer already. I ordered some scrambled eggs, bacon, toast, and some coffee to drink. What surprised me was all he'd ordered was some toast and water, if he's eating like that; I don't know how he got to the size he is.

After breakfast we continued on the road towards our destination, while I was content lay looking out the window and enjoying all the new sights. Another two hours in, I started noticing something suspicious about two cars that were coming up behind us. They were quickly coming towards us while dodging traffic in what seemed like a pincer movement bu coming up on both sides of our vehicle.

"Hey we got two vehicles coming up on us, what do you want me to do?"

"Just sit there and watch, I got this one" Kyle replied when I informed him of our situation. At first I thought he would just speed up and try to get away but he broke my expectations again. Kyle pulled out one of Earth's low tech handguns and started popping a few rounds at our pursuers.

"Shit dude, I like action and all but why are you firing on the open road like this! We are gonna get some unwanted attention!"

He just ignored my comment and continued firing rounds at the car on his side until he emptied his clip, and then threw the gun to the back seat.

Kyle decided to take the next exit off the highway, and after driving for a good ten minutes after he exited we came across some hidden gravel back roads. After driving down these roads for a few brief minutes, he pulled to an abrupt stop. Once we stopped the two cars behind us also stopped about twenty feet behind.

Kyle got out of the truck, and motioned for me to also get out. The moment we got out, Kyle took cover on the front of our vehicle and started firing at them with a second handgun he pulled out. Seven guys total ended up getting out of the two cars and took cover from the cars or nearby tree's. It even seemed one was injured from the earlier shots on the highway, which made it impossible for him to get to cover before he was shot dead by Kyle.

I wanted to take out my gun and join the party but I realized that I would get a lot of unwanted attention when I different kind of projectile comes out of my weapon.

I yelled to Kyle " hey you got an extra gun on you, so I can fire back?"

" why the hell ain't you got no weapon you when your a bodyguard?" He angrily fired back.

"That's why you need to to do a proper interview if you ever get a next time!"

Even though I said that, I was still planning to take my gun out. Sadly it seems I won't be getting good ratings on my bodyguard service today.

I grabbed the handgun in my jacket, and pulled it out. It looked very different compared to the ones everyone else was using. It had the same general shape, but with an elongated barrel and what one can only describe as futuristic looking gadgets on it.

I quickly took aim at one of the nice suit wearing attackers and pulled the trigger. What happened next made the entire forest go deathly silent. After all when a gun fires a plasma bullet that rips through the man's body, killing him instantly; everyone might stop for a moment to see what happened.

After the initial shot, I didn't waste any time to take aim and for the next. I continued firing until each of the attacker's were shot dead. Once I finished, I looked over towards Kyle to see he was injured in the shoulder, but he wasn't paying attention to that. He just stared at me with his eyes wide open.

"Sorry Kyle but this is the end of the contract!" I then fired, sending a plasma bolt straight through his skull, sending brain and blood all on the ground.

I checked his body for the other half of my payment, and then walked towards the package in the back seat. I forcefully ripped the package open for it to reveal a bunch of different bags full of different items.

"Damnit Kyle, you were just transporting drugs!"

I was about to walk away until I noticed something shiny at the bottom of all the bags.
