First Job on Earth

At the same time that Zen was walking to the job contractor's house, APD-01 was sitting in the captains seat staring at a holographic screen that is currently showing a movie about robots taking over the Earth and hunting down human survivors.

"So this is how Earth views intelligent Artificial Life, maybe i could use some of these ideas to mess with Master Zen!! Clack clack clack" Laughed APD-01 with his mechanical mouth piece.

Now back the important main character; Zen. He seems to be walking enjoyably down a normal looking street with houses on each side of it. It seems he still annoyed by the constant stares of all the people that walk by him as he always looks away from others rather quickly when he notices their stare.

Ah look I have arrived, it looks like that noticeably larger house compared to the rest on this street is the one that my soon to be employer is living at. I hope this guy isn't about to be an asshole and mention my mask like everyone else in this world. It really irks me that people actually get bothered about full face masks here, as anywhere in the galaxy you'll find all kinds of people wearing masks.

But back to the point, while I'm walking up the front porches steps, I'm taking in as much details of this house as possible to see if I notice anything odd about my hopefully new employer. When I reach the door, I sigh as everything seems normal with nothing that different compared to other houses on the street at least other than the size. Well since I'm here, might as well knock and get it over with.

Thud, thud, thud

"Hold on I'm coming" said a somewhat deep masculine voice from the other side of the door.

As it opens I see a man thats about six foot three with around my build and short crisp military style haircut, and a clean cut goatee for facial hair. He is most likely around the age of thirty, maybe forty if aged well. At the same time I'm inspecting him, he also takes a look at me and declares excitedly.

"Haha you must be an applicant for the job, you look like you could hold your own in a fight unlike most people coming around here. Now come in, come in; let's get to talking business."

"Well sir, I'm looking forward to having this job and hope I can be of service to protecting the person in question." I say as I walk through the door following the man.

He stops to look at me curiously.

He better not mention the mask or I'm walking out of here, I think inwardly somewhat threateningly.

"Hmm I think you've got the wrong idea, it's me who is in need of a bodyguard and you'll also be the only one protecting me. That is of course if you get the job." He continues walking as he finished saying that.

I blanked out there for a moment, mainly because how the hell does this man look like he needs protecting. The aggressors are more likely gonna think that we both are body guards to some rich person. Once I got my thoughts back, I continued to follow him until we reached the living room where he motioned for me to take the seat opposite of him.

"Well now my name is Kyle Stavone, and due to a certain reason I'm gonna need a bodyguard to protect me on the way to Charlotte, NC. It's only about a five hour drive and you'll get payed two thousand dollars. Are you okay with this terms?" He asked after explaining the job details.

"Yeah that sounds good to me, what about the interview that the flyer said?" I replied after thinking for a moment. I understood the monetary value but the locations and whatnot, I ain't got a clue about that. Well whatever, it's an adventure plus I get some well needed money.

"Haha you've just passed the interview boy, now get ready cause we are heading out tomorrow morning. Oh here is the first half of the money, you get the rest once we get there."

"Well that's great, I'm glad to be working for you. I'm all ready to go, just need a place to stay for he night." That was easier than I thought it would be.

"Alright you can take the room upstairs and to the right. Be up at eight in the morning ready to leave. I'll be out getting a few things, be back later." He said before he walked out the door and drove away

I decided to hit the sack early for tomorrow. As I climbed in bed I thought to myself that this is gonna be the first of a few adventures on Earth and hope there might be some action tomorrow, then I slowly drifted into a deep sleep.
