Icy Plain's Three Elegance
I wouldn't recommend novel for people to read. I guess this is authors first novel, cause inexperience is felt while reading this. While premise could be interesting, lack of any research about america and police give novel too many defects at start. e.g. crossing the border with mexico while vaulting over the fence/wall (most of us mexican border in 2003 didnt have fence/wall and texas-mexican border is river), also promotion to detective just cause of good combat skills, or detectives having uniforms. Also instead of Sherlock type of detective, you get a Rambo in a police.
"My Disappointment Is Immeasurable And My Day Is Ruined " I was expecting a mc like sherlock but so far the mc has been nothing but a disappointment . He is more like a soldier then a detective. He's been putting most of his stats into strength and dexterity and ignoring the most important stat, well for a detective, mental. Like come on his system is called super detective system not super martial art system.
Pros: Reincarnation, Marvel world before the Marvel shit started. And a Detective system. I honestly thought it's another cliche garbage, but this shit is well written and not dumb. There's no excessive patriotism or China #1 stuff, and the whole novel is really diverse and, for the first time, not racist. Highly recommended, but I would rather have you save up for this novel. Say start reading at 1000 chapters because it is SUPER easy to get engrossed and finish 400 chapters. The whole thing is entertaining and worth it. Cons: The MC gets too "OP" too quickly, with no imminent sense of danger. His identity is mostly "good." I honestly wished for the author to use the evil org in the Marvel world, make use of them and the like and become "Chaotic good." He also always sides with Shield, even though Shield itself has traitors and the like, which remains unexplored. Another con is that the novel's timeline is tough to follow; since we are in Marvel Alt-universe, things get a little confusing for people like me who don't have the faintest clue about what company X or Y does or when X technology comes into the mainstream. The author had some semblance of cohesion early on, but it is starting to get very loose hope he works on that. Cheers
Quite confused by all the positive reviews. It's very obvious that the only thing Author knows about US they learned from action movies and memes. MC is said to be "Detective" and is given the "Super Detective System", but the author has no idea how police or detective work. MC is more of a "Killer, but somehow legal in this world weird cop system". There is no "Detective work" in the entire novel - the cases solve themselves, often accompanied by violence. MC kills indiscriminately, uses scavenged firearms taken freshly from corpses (big no-no) and so on. He would've been better established as a merc, not detective. The translation is sub par, the character are carboard cutouts and stereotypes, the names are often nonsensical etc. It's obvious that the story is not what is "written on the tin". Very disappointed.
Overall, I really like this currently. My real review would be less than three stars, but since story has been really good for a long time I'm going to give it four to boost ratings. Let me explain. Story is actually well written, mc isn't some edgy revenge lord, nor he is total saint. He's quite reasonable. Also various stories, especially core marvel stuff is really interesting. BUT story has at least two unbearably long stretches where basically nothing happens, mc just does one minor case/fanfic plotline that are not connected in any way to anything, and mc doesn't even get levels. There were basically two 200+ chapter stretches where mc didn't level up, there was nothing about progression of mc's company or mention of core storyline (marvel). I was almost going to quit. Now, I wouldn't actually recommend this story, I'm just saying for last ~500 recent chapters story has been really good. Since it has progression and while side quests always happen, core marvel stuff and progression of mc's company and organization is happening. I like it NOW, but you just can't have massive stretches of time where essentially nothing happens. Overall, if you are bored and have time, have a go, if you manage to not drop it, it will become really good story. Otherwise don't bother.
Review at chapter 1300+ I don’t know what the others talking about mtl and story change. But i do feel that the flow is just so so, not great or something exciting but not so s***, for casual reading its decent i guess, some fight scene not that bad its even better than some other fan fictions. Well just so so~ The only thing i like is the mc actually kinda keeping his role as “detective” lol, unlike others either the same old weak “hero”, cold murderer, or simply straight up becoming a god within 200 chapters.
The novel is pretty good and if you're only thinking about Marvel world no it's not only marvel world i have read more than 500 chapters and found MC interacting with characters of Fast & Furious , Shot them'up , Spiders, Nightmare , Wanted, Venom etc movies and he mixed their storyline in this novel preety much perfectly i am enjoying reading it.
The story is good but recently there has been no chapter updates because the translator is just stockpiling chapters for the privilege service and not coming out with anything that the none paying readers can read. I don't know how long this is going to go on for, it could be a month depending on how many they plan on stockpiling. *BEWARE NO UPDATES FOR A WHILE!*
