Honestly, I'm surprised that there hasn't been like a 300 chapter story that tells the exact same thing. Warning: My rating may be slightly inflated since I am a fan of more historical-based stories that actually emphasize the history part. This isn't a review swap but genuinely some things I wanted to express after reading. Writing Quality: There are issues with grammar at some points, but I read that the author isn't a native English speaker, so I would say the actual quality is amazing. There was one chapter where a sentence wasn't capitalized and another where it said "she was panicked" I think, but honestly, none of it stood out too much to the point that I wanted to comment on it. As for the actual writing style itself, the author has a way of writing that is reminscent of actual historical texts with the sparsity but still powerful ways of conveying emotion. It reminds me of the way Chinese poems are: few words but manages to pack a super long story or message. Stability of Updates: Uhhh way better than me LOL so I very much so aspire to become as such Story Development: A bit jumpy at some points, but I think it actually reads better for this period considering the way history was recorded at intervals of years. That being said, their romance was cute but didn't resonate tooooo much with me (I actually read this for the history sorry kekekekek) Character Design: I actually really like the portrayal of the Yue girl and the contrast it holds with the court. World Background: Think I've been alluding to this enough already ^-^
Wonderful book. Your style to romanticize the historical events is really wonderful. I loved the way you are writing this story. You have very well described the environment settings and the characters. Even the reactions and their conversation is really worth appreciating. Keep up the good work dear author.. Totally recommended....:) :) :) :) :)
The plot is amazing as well as the history in it. Personally, I have read a lot of historic novels in wn and so I can honestly say that anyone who loves historical genre would love this book. And, I salute the authors who write historical books because it requires lot of knowledge and effort. The writing quality is superb, it draws me in making me able to visualise the scene extremelywell.
The writing quality is unique and impressive. From the first chapter, it was able to grab my attention. I cannot judge the grammar of the book since I am not good as well when it comes to grammar. As for the story development, I can't say if it has a fast or slow pace since there are only three chapters so far. Keep up the good work!
I am glad to see another historical story. This is what I like. The story itself is very fascinating, easy to read. The characters are interesting, multifaceted. The psychological aspect, the experiences of the character are shown very realistically! I have included this book in my library. I will read it slowly! 1 power stone to advance! Many thanks to the author for the opportunity to read such an interesting story! It's great!
Dear Author, Wow!!! What I should say? To be honest, I don't like history books, I don't like history at all (the only thing I really enjoyed learning history was antiquity ;)) but I have to admit I read your story with pleasure. I love the author's notes that give some idea about the background. Well done! Stunning work!
Writing quality: easy to comprehend. Stability of Updates: once, twice a week. Not bad! Story development: The first book is a bit too jumpy. The second one is pretty good. Not draggy, but not jumpy. The authors emphasize more on the history part instead of the romance part. Character design: Yue Maiden's character is a bit too flat and not too many descriptions about her. Ying's part is well written. The author implies her characters not through a description; but through her childhood story. She had a tough problematic life with her mother that shaped her characters. World Background: the author has her own way in describing the background. Yue Maiden who lived in a stilt house, the slavery that was common in that era; girls who were sold to brothels or as slaves; etc. Not too descriptive, but informative enough.
In the first few chapters there were some grammatical or typo errors. Also the pace was a bit too fast for a historical romance. In the second book the writing quality improves a lot. The story pace is much better. not too fast not too slow. Characters development is pretty much described in detail. I think this novel is pretty entertaining and educating for someone like me who only likes the wuxia elements but has no idea about history. The historical setting is interesting. I have to say the wuxia element is not much compared to the historical part. Can not complain since this novel is classified as historical fiction rather than wuxia.
