The Mysterious Man
Betty got home excited. After lunch, Betty ran towards her bed and jumped onto it giving a slight bounce to her body as the mattress was very thick and soft..... When her head hit the soft pillow, she immediately fell asleep due to exhaustion.
When the sun set down, a loud ringing sound came from her phone that woke the sleeping beauty up, she grunted sleepily because of the disturbance in her sleep and then picked up her phone from the beside table.
"Hey.... Sugar" came a loud voice from the other end of the phone.
Betty kept her phone far away from her ears as she couldn't bare the loud sound, and said angrily. "Grace Lopez, you better lower your voice otherwise it'll be no more time to turn me into a deaf person".
Realising her friends bad mood through her husky voice, Betty's best friend grace exclaimed, "oh! Baby, were you sleeping? Did I disturb your beauty sleep? Sorry if I did" grace apologized on the phone.
"It's okay girl, cool down. Now tell me, why did you call? Hearing your excited voice I can tell that there is something cooking in you head. So speak up" Betty said rubbing her eyes.
"You wish, am just calling to check on you, how did the interview go? Grace asked avoiding bettys question.
"Ummmm, betty felt like pranking her friend, hmm, Gracie can't talk now am so moody right now" she said faking a sad tone. "Oh baby, am Soo sorry" grace said feeling bad for her friend. "It's okay Gracie, it's that the only reason you called? She asked sounding even sadder.
"He he he" giving the awkward smile to betty, grace continued "yes yes, Betty, you're right that I have something to tell you, I'm starting now"
"Hmmmm, tell me Gracie" Betty replied.
"You remember my date today right?" Grace asked becoming excited.
"Yes what happened to it?" Betty said with eagerness in her voice, she really wants to Know how it turned out.
"Yup... Mike is my boyfriend now", she gave a shriek sound.
"Wow Gracie, congratulations, let's celebrate when you get home okay? Betty said excitedly. "Okay babe, can't wait to get home and don't bother cooking, I will get food for us" grace said.
Betty ended the call, "oh Gracie, it's going to be two celebrations". She quickly opened her browser and typed "Benjamin Jackson" and the picture of the CEO of Victoria Empire popped up. It described his as the most eligible bachelor of country A, the most powerful business man of country A and beyond. His net worth was too big for Betty to pronounce, she thought " how can a business man earn this much? Is he the president or what? She stared at his pictures and found them attractive. "My new boss, oh God help me".
She sighed and fell back on the bed, her phone buzzed again indicating the arrival of a new message. She sat on her bed resting her head on the headboard and covered herself with a blanket. But when she opened the message, she flushed with anger and giving a confused look.
The message was, "have you already forgotten about me?
"Forgot whom? I don't even know you, who are you? Betty questioned back. But no replies from the other end, out of anger she switched off her phone and slept off again.
It was evening Betty lazily stood up from the bed and said to herself "miss Betty Cruz, this is the only time you'll have to lazy around, come Monday you would be as busy as a bee, or even more than a bee" saying that she rubbed her eyes and yawned. She went downstairs to set the dinning waiting for grace arrival.
She browsed through her phone while waiting for grace, Minutes later grace arrived, "am home, anyone here?" Grace entered the living room and dropped her bag, "gracie" .... Came a shout from the dining area, Betty ran to grace and gave her a hug. It was a warm hug which lasted for few seconds, "oh girl, today is one of the most happiest day of my life, I've loved Mike from the bigining and now? He's my darling boyfriend" grace couldn't contain her happiness she kept swirling round the living room.
"That's good news Gracie, but let's sit down first. Realising the tone of her friends voice grace said.
"Jeez babe am sorry about the job, don't worry you'll get a better one I promise you" grace said as she rubbed Betty's back.
" Grace thanks for the support you always give me, because I got the job.... Betty shouted, leaving her friend dumbfounded. Looking at Grace facial expression, Betty couldn't help but laughed Soo hard.
Realising herself , grace said " come on girl, not fair" still laughing Betty said " am sorry girl, I couldn't help it" grace got annoyed at her laughter and started walking away.
Realising her friend mood, she subdued the laughter and followed her, "Gracie okay am sorry, just wanted to prank you a little, am sorry" she kept pleading. Grace smiled inwardly as she turned and gave Betty a hug to the suprise of Betty, "you are not mad again? Betty asked. "Shut up Betty, I can never get mad at you unless you fall in love with a psycho Next time" Betty rolled her eyes and tightened the hug.
After what seemed like forever, they sat down.
"So Betty tell me about the job" grace asked excitedly. Betty told Grace About the job, the salary, the house and the car. "Wow Betty this job is huge, do you realise this opportunity is from above?your parents are watching after you, You can save money and get your house back from that your greedy uncle".
"Yes grace, that's why I am happy. Omg this is a double celebration Grace hurriedly went to the bar and grabbed a wine and a glass to pour the champagne and made a toast. "To a brighter future" better reply "yes to A New beginning".
They Enjoyed the moment and Betty said "tell me more about your sugar boy Mike" Betty asked as she sipped the wine.
"oh baby, you don't need to ask, I'll tell you about anyway, I've been crushing Soo hard on him and today we finally confessed our true feelings, now we're officially a couple" grace shrieked in excitement.
Am happy for you gracie, hope he treats you well, he shouldn't hurt you. The moment I hear it, I'll hunt him down and cut off the most precious part of his body" betty said and winked at grace. "Down girl, jeez do you have to say that? You crazy girl, thanks anyway my protector... They laughed.
The gossiped through out the night and had a good meal, before falling asleep.
