Chapter Fifty_Three: Spies Even In Darkness

The sound of wings batting in the air was enough to draw her attention, she had occupied her thoughts as she battled with the changes made to her reality. She felt infuriated that things hadn't gone away after the amount of effort she had put in, the amount of sacrifice she had committed, trying to live her desires and goals. Willing to prove everyone wrong.

Yet now here she was walking around her father's floors as though a widow wondering what would be the next plan or move. Her mother had tried to console her and offered to help her in any way how, her father had ignored her as he had previously warned her against the race for the King's heart.

She remembered how her father had frowned and told her to allow her heart to fall in love with another being, another creature, one that would be like them but no she wanted more power and she thought she could change the stone-hearted King into one that would bend at her will.

And for a while, she truly thought she had won, she had done everything and made everything bend in every way that she had commanded. She had become everything the beings had desired, she had walked around the towers and travelled with him. Staying at his hip and chasing away beings that would do anything to have a taste of him.

She had tasted being Queen, tasted being the one to rule and just when she was sure that she had everything in her grasps, it was snatched away. She didn't understand how as she had watched everyone, she had planted untraceable spies and made sure that no one ever spoke against her. She was the literal definition of perfection, yet here she was, back to being alone. Back to being at her father's house as though an unwanted being.

And it angered her beyond understanding, her father had been happy to see her without him and had tried to help her move on but her mother could see clearly that her daughter didn't want to be anyone's wife, no she was hungry to be Queen and she would have it.

"Tell me you have some news," she said as she slowly turned to find her spy kneeling behind her, his wings coming together to blend into his skin. Not leaving a trace of his wings on his shirt or his back. "If you are without one, you best be careful as I will not hold back my anger. I will rip you apart and that is my promise."

"I come with news, your highness, there is another being in the realm. One different from all the others that have been brought and chosen before. She is human but the closer I try to get to her the more her stench becomes different as if she is different and has no realization of it" he said.

"I knew Silver would bring another woman, I have no clue why he continues to look for these beings and bring them to this realm. They are weak and can't survive the power that slowly enters them. It kills them and though I enjoy watching them all fall one by one, the last one, she came too close to surviving. Make sure to watch this one closely, when the time is right, she will just be another sacrifice, do we understand each other?" she asked, as she turned to regard him.

"Yes, your highness, I will watch over her and make sure that everything goes as smoothly as you requested. It is my duty to serve you and ensure that all your desires and needs are met. For you are the true Queen," he praised.

"I know I am, now leave and make sure to do what I have requested," she demanded and then heard his wings sprout and bat away. Leaving her to her thoughts once again as she wondered which would be the best way to get rid of the new protégé. Maybe it would be best to offer this one to a different kingdom and see what they will need her blood for.

It doesn't matter, she will make a way and Silver will soon realize that she is the one and only Queen of the dark kingdom and that every other being fell short of the standards she set. He would remember her and she would make sure that he did, no matter what.

"You will get burned and when you get burned no one will be able to save you, I warn you sister. That man's stars are aligned with another and you are not the one he desires nor seeks for. You have already done too much, you have already surrounded yourself with too much evil, be careful, otherwise, you will become Queen but for all the wrong reasons", she heard and turned to find her sister staring at her with disappointment.

"Take heed to my warnings, for I fear that this may be one that will not be in your favor and that your head will end up in a pool of everlasting pain."

"Well take heed dear sister, I will be Queen and if it means I must sacrifice you all and do what is needed I shall. Silver will marry me and see me as his bride, as his Queen. All of you will remember who I am, this-" she gestured at everything around her, "-is a moment of weakness and I will have you all bowing at my feet. Mock my words if you must but believe it" she said, narrowing her eyes at her sister.

"Tread carefully sister, this one is not like the others," her sister warned as she stepped away,

"Then make sure your witch sisters do something because if I do fail, I will wreck on every single one of you, till my being is burned alive" she threatened, "And that is my promise, put it in the scrolls or even the stone tablets. You will all remember my screams if you all do not give me what I desire."
