Chapter 94 - Defense of Yokohama Base

In the training ground next to Siegfried's cottage, a top less white haired man is swinging an edgeless steel greatsword which is nothing more than a large slab of steel with an unwaveringly focus as he perform stances and sword technique on a mech armed with a similarly dull steel sword.

Suddenly, a part of the background split open like a door and Agent walked in looking anxious and immediately locked eyes at the man.

"Master! Here you are! What had you been up to this whole time? I couldn't contact you at all." Agent sounded worried when she speaked.

"Uhm… doing sword training with Siegfried? Did I perhaps forget to inform you about it?" Adam scratches his head sheepishly and stabs the greatsword on the ground to pause the training due to interruption.

"Yes! I worried because I couldn't sense you at all, Master."

"Oh! Right… Siegfried told me to not use any power at all and use only my physical strength. So, I disabled my exoskeleton suit… Sorry, I made you worry."

"No, it's alright, Master. But more importantly. Today is the 29th of December. It's time for the Master to get ready." Agent shakes her head and informs Adam of his schedule while ordering the Aegis mech to clean up the training ground.

"Oh, time does fly fast. Alright I'll get ready immediately." Adam teleported to his room and went into the shower immediately.

Before Agent left, she checked on the mech one more time. More specifically to acquire the training data of Adam.

Half an hour later in the hangar.

"Is everyone ready?"

"Yes!" Most of them replied.

"Let's go then." Adam said and got on his Gen 7.5 TSF. That was fully Augmented along with a weapon. More specifically BWS-3 Great Sword.

There is a reason why Adam chose the TSF sized greatsword among all other weapons that he can manufacture with the blueprints rewarded to him from his previous mission.

Bigger BETA is normally more difficult to be taken down with firearms. It would quickly eat up the ammunition and cumbersome to carry a lot. So, Adam decided to use a melee weapon. Considering his target will be gigantic worms, small blades aren't going to cut out so Adam naturally chooses the biggest one available. Though, if he has access to weapons of gen 7 and above, he might be able to create plasma swords.

Also, this time Adam learned his lesson and Augmented his TSF to have ample Energy or Aura regeneration along with focusing to increase defense against physical and heat damage because that is the type of Damage BETA does. Also movement speed too because he needs to be nimble as while his TSF does have very high speed when using its thruster and has a very long charge due to it using G-Generator. When walking on leg, it's very slow and Siegfried reminded him that footwork is very important.

Thus, his TSF is Augmented as such.

The same as for Winter, Tina and Alices would be more well rounded except rather than focusing a lot on Energy or Aura regeneration, they get HP regeneration since their TSF isn't like his that have Rutherford Field barrier that eats through energy very fast and would take a while to regenerate back.

At 1912 hours, 29th December 2001.

Everyone is in position, waiting nerve-wrackingly for the battle to commence. But unfortunately, no one really knows when the worm will appear. All Adam knew was it was going to happen in the evening and he had been eyeing his minimap for the last three hours.

As for Shirogane Takeru, he had been trying to calm his nerves the entire time. As such, he tried to analyze the Gen 7.5 TSF unit from the future which only a selected few know about and the rest only know it as an experimental prototype unit.

"Is this the TSF from the future? It looks odd." Shirogane Takeru remarked to himself as he learned this information from Dr Kouzuki a while before.

Takeru analyzed the TSF and found it to have an imbalanced distribution of armor, mostly focused on the front of the body and joints. It looks very light compared to normal TSF, a very compact design or rather, it's very bare. Even the weapon is only a singular greatsword which Takeru recognised to be BWS-3 Greatsword developed by Britain.

True to Takeru's analysis, the TSF Adam is using are indeed very bare as it originally are meant to wear armor like real armor. Swappable depending on the situation. However, since Adam has Augmentations, the TSF currently is stronger than with additional armor on and those armor are just going to encumber his movement.

<Say, Takeru-kun? Do you really think the attack will happen? We had been waiting in standby for like five hours.>

<I doubt Yuuko sensei and the commander will authorize an operation of such scale without confidence it would happen.> Takeru smiled softly while looking at the nervous pink haired girl through the video transmission.

<Well, I agree with Takeru. The situation must be alarming enough for the higher ups to authorize this operation. All three, UN, US and IJA are working together.>

<Yeah, Chizuru is correct.> Meiya joined in.

Suddenly, everyone felt a faint vibration.

<Sword 02 to all units! Carrier-Class strain detected from the northwest! I repeat.>

The vibration on the ground is becoming stronger and stronger until it feels like an earthquake and they can see the surface is visibly deforming from the Megaworms surfacing to the ground.

Moments before, Adam first saw two red dots moving toward his direction and he immediately cross-reference to the real time map scan and detected the creature of similar size and dimension of the Megaworm heading toward him. He orders Winter to immediately alert everyone as planned.

Jalter and Siegfried who was on standby immediately jump off his TSF shoulder and unleash their attack as planned that forces those Megaworms to resurface before they could breach the absolute defense line that acts as physical barrier to stop the base from being trampled through.

Blinding blue explosion and flame from the pit of the fiery hell unleashed and produced a powerful tremor and obliterated a big chunk of the ground.

"Not enough!" Adam immediately noticed the damage on Jalter's side was insufficient. However, he already expected it.

The arm of the TSF and the greatsword immediately coated a layer of black and then he circulates his Aura and channels them into his blade, creating a fire-like effect on the sword. Adam quickly leaps up and then dives down, stabbing the greatsword into the ground before unleashing his rampaging Aura which explodes.

Immediately after that, a violent shaking ensued as the creatures revealed themselves. Their appearance looks like sand worms. The face front is nearly flat and lined with crystal-like teeths which turn its face into a functioning drill.

Everyone looks with a bated breath as the nearly 200 meters tall creature wriggles out from the ground and falls limp. Then the creature immediately opens its mouth that turns into gigantic maw, spitting out a river of blood along with blood drenched BETA hordes.

'All units fire!' The artillery and tank commander ordered before missiles and shells rained down on the mouth of the injured Megaworm.

Soon, planes also arrived kudos to the CV shipgirls namely Enterprise, Yorktown, Hornet and Saratoga.

While one already surfaced. Adam still sees three other big red dots continue along their path towards the absolute defense line. Ignoring Adam who is acting as bait to lure them out to the ground outside of the absolute defense line.

"This is Sword 01 to HQ. Plan A failed. Switch to Plan B immediately. "

'Switching to Plan B.' Adam heard Commander Radhabinod order.

*BOOM!* *BOOM!* *BOOM!* *BOOM!* *BOOM!* *BOOM!*

A series of explosions echoes, creating other powerful tremors that ravage the battlefield and shooting dirt up high into the sky.

*SCREECH!!!*

A loud piercing cry caused many to wince all the way to the base and the remaining three Megaworms emerged from the ground. One was split into two by the tactical nuke explosive. The other two open their mouths and quickly release the BETA hordes they were carrying in hope they will overrun the forces defending the base.

The captains and commanders of each TSF squadrons and battalions immediately give permission to attack while they try to defend the walls that were protecting the tanks, missile launchers and artilleries. Meanwhile the more Elite TSF squadrons like the Valkyrie or Royal Guards, their objective is to eliminate the Laser-Class while the planes, shells and missiles wipe out those BETAs.

Seeing that the rest of the battle had progressed as planned. Adam shifts his focus back on the worms.

"Let's do this." Adam said and charged into the Megaworm that he injured.

He grasped the greatsword with both arms and swung it on the blood drenched BETA and for a split second, the air became stilled and Adam sensed it. The sensation of him cutting something even though his own blade is far from touching the enemies.

*Slash!*

His slash created a horizontal slash of wind that launched forward and mowed a straight line through the incoming hordes. He can feel it. This is the effect of Armament Haki.

Previously, Adam's mastery of the Armament Haki was only to use his willpower to form a layer of skin that enhanced his body and weapon. He is far from learning how to emit energy as an attack. At most he could unleash them out as an uncontrolled explosion of energy. However, his recent training although brief, he learned how to control the wild energy into a more controlled state and condense them out as a lethal and efficient attack.

"Haha… hahaha! To think I was missing out on something this good. I was a fool to not learn swordsmanship earlier." Adam laughed as a single slash had killed more than a thousand BETAs in one go.

The sensation, the pleasure felt too euphoric. He could taste it, the fear of the creature that controls these BETA. It felt sweet and addictive like droplets of dew to a man dying of thirst. And like a man dying of thirst, a few drops is definitely not enough.

Adam charged into the horde and cut down anything and everything that dared to even twitch. Without even realizing, Adam dived into the depth of the Megaworm's bowel and slaughtered all the BETA inside and carved the Megaworm into pieces with his blade.

Only at the end of his rampage did he snap out of it and questioned what just happened to him. The last thing he remembered before his clarity became muddled is the intense thirst for blood. His Observation Haki is not limited to observation as it's name stated as he can also sense the emotions of others, basically empathy.

The soldiers, pilots and commanders in the battlefield were filled with desire for vengeance for they had seen the power humanity currently holds. They now had acquired the strength to get revenge on those aliens that stole their home, the family and friends and their peaceful life. Those intense desires from more than tens of thousands of people overwhelmed him and he fell into a frenzy to slay the BETA and it did a great job apparently considering he slaughtered the entire horde along with the Megaworm.

'Master! Can you hear me? Ma—.'

"Agent? I'm alright." He apologized for making her worry before he explained. "Sorry. I lose control due to my ability. Did anything bad happen?"

'It's alright, Master. As long as you are safe. As for the battle, it's nearly concluded. All four Megaworms have been confirmed to be killed.'

"I see…" Adam grumbled a little because he missed out most of the battle after being possessed by the emotions of others.

But on the bright side, the mission is done. Surely he can leave this world and go home already, right? Right? Right!

Info for Adam, the Author hadn't milk enough of the Muv Luv world. So, his stay will continue.
