Chapter 1
"Miss Melony! Your mother called, she is waiting for you downstairs in the throne room!" The maid said, coming in.
Melony sighed. Then she looked at the Maid.
"Tell her I'll be there in a minute, you can go now."
Melony was tired of this life. She wanted to do things that she wanted! Not what her parents wanted for her. But sadly she had no choice. She was the next heir to the throne.
As she went down the stairs thoughts were flowing in her mind:
"What would happen if I wasn't a princess? Would I finally be free?"
Many questions went through Melony's head.
When she finally arrived at the throne room she saw her parents sitting on the throne with a young man in front of them. A quite handsome guy. He had brown medium length hair with a red streak of hair on the left side.
"I shouldn't pay so much attention to him, I'm probably not even going to see him again."
Melony thought to herself, while going to her throne and sitting down.
She looked down to the ground. Her hands on her lap, squeezing her dress.
"May I ask why you called for me, mother?"
She hated when they asked for her to come downstairs. It was usually about them asking her to stay and watch them do their job. It was very boring.
Her mothers voice raised.
"We want you to watch us do our jobs, you're gonna become queen soon. You should know your responsibilities when you become queen, even though you should have become queen at 18"
Melony just stayed quiet. She didn't want to argue with her parents. Even though they were right.. "I should have become queen when I was 18, but I couldn't since I didn't fall in love and marry someone".. She thought to herself. That is what happens in this kingdom, not falling in love as a royalty means you don't get married.
"Anyways, the guards have caught this boy in the village stealing bread. we can't allow this behaviour in this kingdom, so we have to punish him!"
Melony's mother kept talking but while she was talking. Melony couldn't help but look at the young man the guards were holding. He was looking down at the floor but even then, Melony could notice all the handsome details on that young man. She noticed the scar on his left eye. It looked like the scar happened not so long ago.
It was interesting to look at him.
Melony's mothers voice raised.
"What is your name, you peasant?!"
The man looked up at her mother with hatred in his eyes.
"That is none of your business."
Melony had never seen her mother this angry and annoyed, she thought her head would explode.
"What did you just say to me-?!"
Melony's father interrupted her.
"Do you know who we are?!"
He said standing up from his throne.
The man had a smirk on his face, then looked down.
"I do. You're the royal family that doesn't care for anybody but yourselves! I bet even your daughter is getting bored of you."
Melony could barely hold in her laughter, but luckily was able to hold it in. No one had ever said anything against her parents that way. Knowing what could happen to them if they ever disrespected them.
So hearing this was quite a shock but also pretty funny. But it didn't seem like Melony's parents thought the same.
They looked mad, really mad.
"What did you say to us?! I can execute you right now if I'd want!" The king said, furiously.
Melony started getting worried. She couldn't let her parents hurt him.
"W-wait! He was probably just trying to have some fun!"
Melony said, trying to calm her parents down.
"Father please don't get mad at him! Maybe a little punishment would work! But isn't execution a bit too far?"
Melony's father looked at her.
"Fine then! If you care so much for this boy, then why don't you take care of him?!"
Melony was shocked, taking care of a person?! She has never even taken care of a pet! How would she handle taking care of a human?!
"That is a good idea! It will be a great way for you to learn how to take care of your people!"
Melony was nervous. She had never done anything like this before! She looked at the young man that was looking back at her.
Oh what was she going to do now?
