Cat Who Cooks
Wow... A really great novel was absolutely ruined my machine translation. You actually expect people to shell out money for such a sub par translation? The first half of the novel was great, as it was translated normally. Then, the translator stopped and it was left in limbo for a couple years. For some reason, some people thought they could get away with machine translating THOUSANDS of chapters within a week and think they can pass it off as something people would actually spend money on. DO NOT spend money on this! DO NOT encourage the use of lazy machine translation.
Lala one of my fav novel! No no no no no no no no no lala la la la la why minimum of 140 words for a ****** review aww shet so hard to reach that minimum come on qidian do something about this i hate doing reviews with minimum number of words it is like you have an assignment and that is essay and that is explain what is love with minimum og 1000 words that a **** like hell do u even know how I feel about restricted essay well the long one okay? But I want to say that I love this novel so much
Food with excellent taste as background story, add with witty humor, makes this story interesting, Yuan Zhou Restaurant is one of a kind restaurant that serve overprice food, but somehow its worth your money, the cooking and ingredients was well explain with a hint of historical and mystic flavor attract a reader to venture more into this novel, well if you are fellow foodie, this novel is cup of your taste.
A solid meh. I've been looking for stories similar to The Immortal's Wine Store, but they all have various problems that make it hard to read. First off, this novel is kinda boring. I mean, he has a system that directly imbues knowledge on how to make something, so he has no real skill/talent, despite what the novel mentions. There are none of the usual "you dare refuse me I'll destroy your whole store" which is actually refreshing for a Chinese novel. However, perhaps the reason they avoided this is because every single character reacts the same way. This novel reminds me of a proto-type version of other novels similar to this, and ends up being rather boring. Of course, there is another I dropped it. Nationalism. Just read chapter 358. Theres no spoilers, and it's just blatant nationalism. It honestly annoys me how common this is. Overall, I give this novel a solid 'meh'. Nationalism and lack of anything going on ruin the novel.
Racist mc? Seriously?? Imagine if this novel was not a food related novel but a military one. He'd be the new Hitler. The mc treats every foreigner equally bad. The mc considers patriotism like a benevolence to his countrymen but patriotism is only another word for racism. Hey! Guess what?? Hitler does that too! He took care of all his "people" and treats all "foreigners" equally. Equally dead. And I don't wanna hear **** like he only tried to kill Jews because he only started with the Jews. The novel really reflects how the author thinks. I hope you'll never be the leader of your country.
The story was going great, I was having a blast reading it and then boom mc takes a 180° turn and becomes a racist, narcissistic, fool who is on a noble mission to save his fellow countrymen against the the rest of the world. I love how the author has everyone who is not from china is this book constantly praise china before he cucks them because they are not chinese. Dropped
One of the few food novels on this site that does not focus on cultivation (which is a plus if you love food A LOT and don’t want the cooking aspect of the novel to be drowned out by cultivation and fighting). A narcissist owner, multiple side characters and their backstories, and rivals to be face-slapped, although this novel may move pretty slowly, it is far from being dry and boring.
Overall, the novel is great especially if you love food related things. Only problem I have is the dialogue and writing composition. Honestly its not realistic, nobody talks like this in real life so its a little awkward when I read it. I think it might be because the translator is translating literally instead of adjusting to English style of speech.
The story is great, the updates were stable and the character is kinda cool. No love story but it still caught my interests, well maybe because I love eating (though my body physic is not getting fat everytime I eat. Dude, I want to get chubby at least once in my **** life) and the details of how delicious the food is. The character does not have any love interest (yet?), and he also have the weird mysophobia thing and his narcisstic attitude. I also read another story similar to this: a dog guarding the resto, pricey meals, a cooking system, a small restaurant, and a weird chef but the story was set on the early times. Maybe that was Master Yuan's ancestor? Anywayz, I love this story. This is my number one on my love list of food-related novels!!!
I love food so I am gonna be a bit biased here. This novel is outstanding! There is the adorable MC who cooks amazing food. Trust me, when you read this, your knowledge about Chinese food will grow! Well, I read some of the reviews and I agree that it can be a bit bland or boring as the story progress but its an endearing novel with a lot of attention given to how the food is prepared. The author tries to spice up the novel with interesting side-characters with their own stories too. If you guys read Japanese manga, there is a genre call "slice-of-life". This novel fits right in this category because it shed light on some of the elements of life like family. But, its not all grounded on life, there is supernatural "system" which adds humor to the novel too! So, if you guys are getting lost in my review here...Go ahead and try this novel. You'll get what I mean :)
