i fully agree and feel your deepest pain brother-in-struggles. The minimum requirement is insane. But over the course of high-school i have come to understand that there is an agenda behind this requirement. I think (not yet sure but 99% there) that this is to make people better at lying; because what better skill there is to know in life than lying? Honestly the essays i have done over the years could be summed up in sometimes even one page with all, and sufficient, evidence to prove my point. But no, i have to do a minimum of 3 pages and pull some quotes out of an authors work that may not even have intended for his work to be interpreted like you might be interpreting it. Because really, nobody except the author knows what goal they are writing to unless they state it in a condensed little paragraph. This revelation astounded me when i came upon it because, wow, maybe that might be easier to do than write an ambiguous paper that others will use to support stuff that you might have hated. (**: i lost my train of thought here) But nonetheless, the schools want what they want, and what they want is for you, the writer, to bs them a nice story that has some "proof" behind it. Although if quotes can qualify as proof then i might as well make up my own. (ex: "thy computer is faulty! exlaimeth Macbeth) Becasue really, quotes are only there because some other person, quote me on this please, wrote or said them. This just goes to show how absurd the whole "proof" part of a lot of essays is. For people have written them and now you are basing your work on something others just like you wrote. Personally this just tells me that the "proof" being used in these "educational" essays is not to be taken seriously in any way, for I am as nice a bs-er as them and should not trust even my own words, let alone theirs! **: i am completely serious on this respone tho.
