Fandom Rants

A book where I talk about my opinion on various shows. From Miraculous to Winx, Monsuno to Pokemon, Inuyasha to Jujustu kai and more. I will write about what I think of the characters, the plot, and any ships in the show. It is a free discussion where any opinion is allowed. (as long as it is not vulgar or offensive in any way)

Miraculous- Marichat

This ship is honestly the only reason I still watch miraculous. It is my passion. While I love a good marichat ship, I don't think it will be anything other than platonic and I am ok with that. I used to think that no relationship could happen without marichat and I still feel that way.

Without marichat no other ship is possible.

Personally I don't think Marinette or Adrien love each other. First, Marinette 'loves' the act Adrien puts on for other people and finds him acting as cat noir strange. She does not bother to look deeper into Adrien because she is too caught up in her feelings for him. Because she is so blinded by her 'love' for him, she does not consider anyone else. (unless she is trying to get over him aka Luka)

Adrien admires Ladybug more than he loves her. He thinks she is brave, selfless, heroic, awesome, and kind. He reminds me of a kid fawning over their favorite superhero. While he likes Marinette, her outgoing personality as Ladybug outshines her awkwardness as Marinette.

I do not think marichat will be anything but platonic and a push for the other ships to happen. They can never truly be in love with each other unless they fall in love with their counter parts. While I wanted them to be a couple, recent episodes have shown how big of an impact this ship is to other ships.

For example, Ladnoir. It was not until Cat noir hung around Marinette that he realized he needed to show Ladybug his true self in order for her to fall in love with him instead of being overly playful and flirtatious.

I feel that his true self is with Marinette. He is flirtatious and humorous like cat noir and sweet, kind, understanding, and non-judgmental like Adrien. While he does show his caring side around Ladybug whenever she is going through a crisis, he is also not being true to himself when he tries to woo her with flirtatious jokes and direct advances.

He is comfortable enough around Marinette to where both his counterparts meet subconsciously. He is both Adrien and Cat noir without trying to be.

Having a friendship where you aren't constantly trying to impress someone tends to bring out a different side in you.

In Adrienette Marinette is constantly trying to impress Adrien and act normal. In Ladynoir cat noir is constantly trying to impress Ladybug and in Ladrien they both can barely speak to each other with how love sick they are.

Because they have no feelings towards each other as Cat noir and Marinette it is easier for them to be themselves around each other. This gives them insight on their other halves and helps them realize who they truly are. It is a healthy relationship that creates major character development.

Marinette is the perfect combination of Ladybug and Marinette when she is around Cat noir and I live for it. She is sassy, honest, kind, and such a mood at times. She is not overly mean and not fumbling over her every word.

She is comfortable enough around Cat noir to confide in him and it is the same for him. She reads her confession to him in trusts that he wont judge her. He tells her about his feelings for Ladybug and talks about the date he had for her just for Ladybug to stand him up.

I would never read my confession to someone I did not trust- especially one as cringy as hers. She even informs him about her vivid imaginations about weddings and hamsters to tell him that it is her coping mechanism because she is afraid of rejection.

Without their interaction in Glaciator one she would not have found out that Cat noir truly loved her.

Their relationship in marichat is comedic, platonic, comfortable, relatable, and trusting. It is the perfect way for them to learn more about each other and themselves.

The problem with both of them is that they keep constantly separating themselves and their superhero selves. They feel they can be one or another in a certain situation and they are having trouble finding a common ground between their alter egos. This also stems from the amount of insecurity they both have. Adrien does not know who he is without his father ordering him around. In Strikeback, Felix gave Adrien the freedom to do whatever he wanted and the only thing Adrien could think of was to sit on a bench.

In wish maker he did not know what he wanted to be. The only thing he could think of was being the perfect child for his mom and dad. He envies Marinette and his other friends because they have their life figured out for the most part.

Marinette thinks she is useless without the mask and lack confidence. She does not associate herself with Ladybug despite being her. Her confidence level are exceedingly low. She constantly berates herself for every mistake she makes and judges herself which is why it is so beautiful that she feels comfortable around Cat noir enough to tell him things she does not tell others.

She told Cat noir that the Marinette she shows everyone is not the real her. In every version of them they are not being true to themselves. The only time they are is in marichat. It is easily my favorite ship because of how healthy and wholesome it is.
