Vault 122

We soon headed out into the hallway to head to the lobby. Unfortunately since I was being tightly held in the arms of my mother I couldn't see much of anything around me. A short walk and a trip in an elevator later we finally arrived at the Lobby.

After struggling around a bit in the elevator I got Maria to change her grip on me letting me see better. The Lobby looked just like any hospitals but, everything looked strangely old even though all of it was well taken care of.

Everything seemed so familiar to me even though I couldn't quite put my finger on where I remembered it from.

Before I could continue my thoughts I was interrupted by the loud hissing sound of one of the pneumatic doors.

After the door opened a group of people came in marching in uniform. They were wearing black jumpsuits with large bullet proof vests on and a helmet with transparent face shields. Their armor had letters VDF written in white on it.

On their wastes were holstered some kind of large pistol and a baton.

They marched up to us before stopping and opening a path. A man wearing similar armor to theirs walked up except his was trimmed with silver and he had a rifle strapped to his back.

As the man got close I could see that he had a large scar running down from his right eye all the way to his chin.

He walked up to Dante and spoke "Hello professors I am Captain Tanner with the Vault Defense Force. I have been assigned to lead you to the Overseer."

Dante looked at the Captain and his squad behind him and sighed "Is all this really necessary Mister Tanner? We are only three people and a baby what could we possibly do?"

"I'm sorry Professor Dante but, as of now you are still outsiders and we have to follow proper procedures. Besides with the kind of training and expertise you all have had who know what you are capable of, not to mention HIM." Captain Tanner explained while shooting a glance over at Aaron.

"Very well" Dante said looking defeated "Let's not waste any more time."

While they were having their conversation it finally hit me. The Pneumatic doors, the Overseer, and strange retro look everything had.

I was in Fallout! More than that I was in a vault! I couldn't contain my excitement and must have been smiling like an idiot since Maria laughed a little and held me tighter.

I had so many questions like why did I reincarnate here and if everything I knew from the games was still relevant but, the biggest thing on my mind at the moment what which vault I am in and if it was one of the more murdery ones.

Captain Conner and his squad formed up around us and started leading us away. When they turned away however it let me see their backs which all had a giant 122 on them.

Well that answers that I thought, I don't remember anything about a Vault 122 though so it doesn't let me know if I'm going to be brutally murdered or not.

My thoughts didn't last long though as I saw what was outside. We weren't in a small and cramped vault like I thought we were. In front of me was a giant cavern stretching as far as I could see.

The most amazing part to me though wasn't how large it was, it was the giant glowing mushrooms that were growing all over the ceiling and the dim rainbow colored plants that were covering the ground. They cast everything in a strange light.

As if seeing the awe on my face Maria looked me "Do you like it? From now on this will be your home Vault 122." Maria or my Mom as I guess I should start say pointed off into the distance.

"Home" I thought as I looked at where she was pointing. Far off in the distance I could see what looked like a small city.

Captain Tanner seemingly unimpressed by the wonders of his home emotionlessly spoke "All right enough sightseeing we have things to do."

He led us to a small nearby building inside was what looked like a bullet train except it was far larger than any train I had seen before. It was at least 30 feet (10 Meters) wide and was surprisingly short being almost like a square.

We boarded the very front car which had a pointed front made of clear glass. From what I could see there was no control panel in the whole car it was only filled with seats.

After we sat down Tanner seemed to whisper something into his wrist and the whole train suddenly buzzed to life. Looking out the window I couldn't see any tracks and I was wondering how we were going to move.

It wasn't long before I found out. The whole train abruptly lifted up into the air and hesitated a moment before shooting off out of the station and into the distance. Seeing the ground flying past below me I couldn't help looking forward to what was ahead.
