Chapter 13

The judgment of Paris earned him the ire of both Hera and Athena.

Helen would leave her husband, Menelaus, the Spartan king, for Paris of Troy.

According to Homer, Menelaus and his ally, Odysseus, traveled to Troy, where they unsuccessfully sought to recover Helen by diplomatic means.

Menelaus then asked Agamemnon to uphold his oath, which, as one of Helen's suitors, was to defend her marriage regardless of which suitor had been chosen.

Agamemnon agreed and sent emissaries to all the Achaean kings and princes to call them to observe their oaths and retrieve Helen.

War was unavoidable.

...

Meanwhile, my legendary island received some visitors. Some gods even help the mortals to reach the island looking for some amusement.

A lot of men adventured on my inheritance site. Mostly using Griffins as a form of transportation, which were mythological beasts with a lion's body and eagle's head and came in winged varieties and non-winged varieties.

Paris could not even pass the stairs test, which was disappointing, but not surprising. Another one who tried to adventure into my test was the hero Achilles. With the perseverance worthy of a hero he pushed through the first test.

It was not easy for him to adapt to that weight, but he succeeded and gradually climbed up, awakening Touki in the process. Although the second test sealed Archilles' newly acquired touki, Archilles was a man well trained in Pankration and the way of a warrior, so he passed easier than the other.

Pankration was an unarmed combat sport introduced into the Greek Olympic Games in 648 BC. The athletes used boxing and wrestling techniques but also others, such as kicking, holds, joint-locks, and chokes on the ground, making it similar to modern mixed martial arts.

He progressed a lot, he is now at the peak of ultimate class, which is good even for a demigod. He only needed a push to reach the next stage.

His result in the last test was disappointing though. Seriously, he really went to have the test to get my inheritance and could not even give a nod like "Hey lord Ouranos ... I am looking to your inheritance, thank you".

I guess he would have to conform himself to his fake immortality which would surely be his downfall.

Classical myths attribute Achilles's invulnerability to his mother Thetis having treated him with ambrosia and burned away his mortality in the hearth fire except on the heel, by which she held him.

Thetis mainly appears as a sea nymph, a goddess of water, and one of the 50 Nereids, daughters of the ancient sea god Nereus

Peleus, his father, discovered the treatment and was alarmed to see Thetis holding the baby in the flames, which offended him and made her leave the treatment incomplete. If this myth is the real facts, then Peleus truly deserves the idiot award.

He was not the only one who failed only on the last test, the same could be said about Ajax, a hero whose strength was second only to Achilles.

Achilles's mother came to me and said:

"Lord Ouranos II, my son had completed your trial and had not gotten the promised award. What is the meaning of this?"

"He completed the trial. Oh, really... First of all, who gave you the right to talk to me like that?" I said releasing my pressure, but not enough to kill off the goddess. I may be casual sometimes with the people close to me, but I would not allow someone to step all over me.

"Have age killed off your small brain, Nereid? Second, your son had not completed my trial, he failed on his last trial."

Seeing that she would not be able to sway me to go by her demands, she gave up and left. Who did she think she was Hera?

Many legendary figures from both Troy and Archaeans attempted the trials. It was believed that the one who passed them would gain a great advantage in the war to come.

This was possible because I made sure the flying island was on neutral grounds, the side that tried to forbid the other from attempting my trials would suffer my wrath and this include the gods.

I guessed the threat of a Primordial was quite effective.

Hector, the trojan eldest prince, was the first and only to pass all my trials and get my inheritance. It was enough for him to jump straight into the 'satan class', which was unprecedented among humans. I made him vow to not reveal the details of the trial to anyone though.

As compensation for it, I asked Atlas to help train the Troyan army, to which he agreed. I also informed him of Archilles' weakness in the heel and told him that there was a woman that I couldn't rename the name, which gave very accurate prophecies in his city.

However, because of a curse from a god, no one in his city believed her, and she was labeled as crazy. I guess I practically supported the Trojans, but I would not give any more support in the war.

At the same time, several Greek heroes tried to scheme their way out of the war.

I noticed something peculiar the butterfly effect had an interesting effect the Troyan War was happening before the Argonaults. What fate has its plan none could tell. I was not sure if I could tell the changes well, I do not remember much about Greek mythology from my past life.

(Medusa's POV)

I have long given up on hope and have long forgotten how it was to be looked upon as a human, not as a despicable ugly monster, but he came and changed my word.

My master, my lord, and the one I felt in love with...

I have been holding myself from storming Poseidon's palace because Poseidon was away. Now that the Wall of Troy was built I would not hold back, I would make the god who destroyed my life suffer.
