Chapter 12

"Yes, my lord. Seeing that my lord gave me the mission to spark civilization among mortals, and how you have Atlas trained all of them. I thought teaching them all would be more practical. I basically copied **cough**cough** based their education in the education program of Chiron the teacher of heroes."

"I was a great initiative, I just have some idea of something that could be added, science."

"Science?"

"Science is the path of understanding the reality based on hypothesis, and experimental understanding." I tried to come up with an explanation of science, but it sounded rather crude.

"How thus it differ from magical studies?"

"Science usually does not focus on the supernatural. It focuses on the understanding of the universal laws that forge reality regardless of the supernatural."

"Universal laws?"

I took a rock in my hand and let it fall to the ground.

"Regardless of magic, divinity or pantheon influence on reality. A rock still falls on the ground why?"

Prometheus seemed puzzled by the question trying to reach an answer. Seeing him not answering I decided to give him some light:

"I can give you two answers to this. With one being simpler to understand and the other being closer to the truth. First, there is a force, which attracts this rock to fall." Prometheus nodded.

"Second the mass from the rock slightly bends space, while the moon already bends space even more.

With the greater bending of space, the rock is 'pushed' into a trajectory down in the direction of the moon space distortion." I clumsily try to explain the theory of relativity.

"I understand, but why the second explanation?"

"The first is surely more convenient, but it does not adjust perfectly to reality. If my memory serves me right it can not explain the orbit of Mercury.

There is a mathematical model that explains it, but it is beyond me. If you are interested you could try studying it."

Prometheus seemed interested.

"That is the basis of science, understand how reality works when magic or divinity are not messing with it. It's relevant to humans, as their magic is related to their understanding of the world and relies heavily on calculation. I think the moon human may not have the same limitation.

But this reality knowledge may be very useful to improve craftsmanship or technology as I would prefer to call it."

Prometheus seems to be taking some mental notes of what I am saying.

" Some would consider math as a science, but I disagree. Math is the principal method of science, not science itself because it does not come from practical experimentation, but through logic and deduction.

Not saying my opinion is flawless, but that's how I think. So I would divide science into social and natural science. Social is the one related to abstract, but concrete things, like the mind, society, laws, and maybe history.

Natural science is the study of the natural world like physics to studies natural phenomena; chemistry, similar to alchemy, but without magic studies natural chemical reactions; and biology which studies how the living body of living things works.

Science should be crucial because it also helps us to understand the sheer miracles or divinities allowed to perform, something a lot of gods do not bother looking at. You remember, when we build the moon humans right, look at them now. They are not clay dolls, they are not even made of clay.

There is a world of knowledge hidden within them something beyond the divine."

I passed the remaining time explaining the pieces of knowledge I retrained from my past life.

About physics I told him about thermodynamics, what I could remember of electricity, mechanics, nuclear fission, and fusion; to chemistry about the periodic table, atoms, elements, atom connections, intermolecular connections, acids, and bases; to biology about cells, living being classification, basic pf genetics, and so own.

I also explained what I remember about math like number groups, basic operations, cartesian space, equations of first and second degree, functions, area, and volume; something about derivatives and integrals.

Prometheus would compile all the pieces of knowledge I shared in what he called Ouranos II tome of enlightenment. It gave such a mythical feel to the bits of incomplete knowledge I shared.

I also share some more practical knowledge like crop rotation, air and vacuum iron forging, and so on...

I also talked about renewable sources of energy. I plan to integrate magic with science and skip the likes of fossil fuels, going directly to the use of renewable energy. I would prefer if this energy was not mana or magical in itself, as I would rather have my people use mana for magical things and technology to use less rare energy sources.

Prometheus gained a burning passion for science, especially, the theory of relativity, which he explained to me that it could be further divided into special relativity and a general one. I knew that relativity was a general name for a group of two theories, but I did not remember the details. His studies in the field led him to a surge of enlightenment in him, which gave him the divinity of space-time.

(Eris's POV)

I, the goddess of discord, was not invited to the wedding of Peleus and Thetis. How dare they! They deserve what is coming for them. If I had been invited I may have only caused a little prank. So, the great me arrived bearing a gift: a golden apple, inscribed "for the fairest".

Soon Thetis was not the center of the marriage anymore, it was the apple. Each of the goddesses claimed to be the "fairest", and the rightful owner of the apple. I am quite beautiful so I could compete as well, but I see myself as the cunningest and smartest first.

Finally, the last piece of my play came, the stupid prince. The goddess submitted the judgment to a shepherd they encountered tending his flock. Each of the goddesses promised the young man a boon in return for his favor: power, wisdom, or love. Aphrodite, Hera, and Athena were the most passionate. Athena became a tool in such a ploy and the stupid bitch dared call herself the goddess of wisdom.

The youth—in fact, Paris, a Trojan prince who had been raised in the countryside—chose love, and awarded the apple to Aphrodite.

As his reward, Aphrodite caused Helen, the Queen of Sparta, and most beautiful of all women, to fall in love with Paris.  I think I am falling for that woman. Seriously, I think Aphrodite turned this mess even worse because the shepherd took too long to choose her.
