Chapter 14

Poseidon was one of the Twelve Olympians in ancient Greek religion and mythology, presiding over the sea, storms, earthquakes, and horses.

He was the protector of seafarers and the guardian of many Hellenic cities and colonies.

In pre-Olympian Bronze Age Greece, Poseidon was venerated as a chief deity at Pylos and Thebes, with the cult title "earth-shaker"; in the myths of isolated Arcadia, he is related to Demeter and Persephone and was venerated as a horse, and as a god of the waters.

Poseidon maintained both associations among most Greeks: He was regarded as the tamer or father of horses, who, with a strike of his trident, created springs (the terms for horses and springs are related in the Greek language).

(Poseidon's POV)

I was returning to my house ready to finally relax as I dumped my work on my wife Amphitrite.

Amphitrite was the goddess of the sea, the queen of the sea, and my wife, a hardworking woman, whom I could let take care of my responsibilities and not bother me about my affairs. She was a daughter of Oceanus and Tethys.

When I returned to my palace, everything was quiet except the sopping from my wife, son Triton, and daughter Benthesikyme.

Triton was a Greek god of the sea, and my only son with Amphitrite, god, and goddess He seemed to be trembling with anger but also paralyzed with fear, probably because he no longer had the divine conch shell he would blow like a trumpet. That divine weapon has the power to calm and raise the waives.

He serves as a trumpeter and bugler on my small sea court.

Triton resembles a merman, with the upper body of a human and the tailed lower body of a fish.

Triton was sea-hued and his shoulders barnacled with sea shells or more precisely he was Triton "cerulean" in color. He also had green (viridis) hair. Triton's steed was also cerulean, but it was also gone along with his trident.

My daughter Benthesikyme resembles her mother a lot one could even confuse them for sisters, if not for the aura of wisdom that my wife gave off.

My poor Amphitrite no longer holds the pearl necklace that she was so fond of which I found strange.

The golden chairs, windows, and wardrobes were all gone. The enormous chandelier as well. When I reached my throne, I found her...

I did not remember her face anymore, she was a meaningless one-night stand although a not consensual one.

I kneeled to her pressure. She glared at my nether region and soon I lost my little trident, as it turned into stone. My actual trident, which was on par with Zeus' lightning arrows, was lost.

Amphitrite insisted that now that our house was destroyed we should spend some time at her parents' house until we could rebuild our home.

My pride as a man would not let it. So I used my authority as ruler of the sea and confiscated the house of some random Oceanids.

It was not nearly as good as our palace or Oceanus palace, but it was ours.

I saw that I would have to increase the taxes if we wanted to regain all we lost. Fighting a dragon king was a no-no for me.

The war seems to have come at the right time, if mortals want my support on the seas they have to give rich donations to me... I am such a genius. Soon we would no longer be penniless.

(Medusa's POV)

Revenge was served against that disgusting man. I have to admit the pillars of that palace were beautiful. So, after I took everything else and put it on the space ring, that I borrowed from Sir Prometheus, I also took out the pillars.

The palace followed a Corinthian order of architecture.

The Corinthian order was the least developed and most ornate of the three principal classical orders of Greek architecture. The other two are the Doric order which was the earliest, followed by the Ionic order.

The Corinthian was the most decorative of the three orders. It has thin columns that have grooves running vertically up the sides.

The most important difference with the other orders is the big capital (top part of the column), which is decorated with leaves and scrolls. The columns were made out of solid chrysoprase and adorned with pearls.

I was disappointed that the palace was not truly golden, but merely some gold carving. I took that beautiful marble throne to give to a man who truly deserved such an imposing seat, my lord Ouranos II.

I also took some statues that resemble Poseidon, Amphitrite, Triton, and Benthesikyme. I was only interested in having these statues for their historical value. Poseidon's statue seems to point above with its index finger, I think I will donate it to the mortals, it seems to work fine as a support for toilet paper.

I acquired several new tunics, and even some made from silk from the Heavenly Court, in various colors. This would help me present myself more presentable for my lord.

I also took some paintings. The largest one was a colossal mural-sized canvas that depicted all the Oceanids.

The smallest one was a portrait of Poseidon, I was doubtful if I should use it as a carpet or have someone paint above it. I thought I could add a representation of the curse I gave the god, doing the same for the god's statue. This way the news of my curse may spread and others may hopely laugh at Poseidon's deserved misery.

I also acquired Poseidon's sea crown, as well as Amphitrite's.

I decided that I would put the large marble fountain, which I acquired at the entrance of my layer. Thankfully, it was an Oceanid that was sculpted on the center of the fountain it would be a waste if it was the sea god.

(Omniscient POV)

That day Poseidon's palace fell on him and his family, and dragon queen Medusa collected the first treasures that would form her rich collection.

Medusa was still reflecting on how she would tend to the corals she took from the now-empty sea garden.
