Sage moved to Chicago when she was just thirteen years old to live with her aunt and uncle after a traumatic experience in her hometown. Sixteen years later with a degree from the University of Chicago, and with the help of many therapy sessions, she had her sights set on becoming the Managing Director of the Chicago firm for Edinburg Banking Investments and asset management, but her boss thought she was setting her expectations too low.
James Edinburg, the heir to the Edinburg legacy and current Managing Director of the Chicago banking firm, offered Sage the job as his personal assistant which paid more but certainly wasn’t the direction Sage wanted to go. James wanted Sage to broaden her vision but more than that he wanted her close to him for reasons Sage was unaware of.
As Sage begins her new job she is plagued by the insufferable work dreams filled with useless meetings and faceless people. Eventually those dreams turn into nightmares from her traumatizing past and she is required to use her lucidity in those dreams to conquer those fears once and for all with the help of James’s son, Liam.
Liam graduated from the University of Chicago with a bachelor degree in neuropsychology last year and landed a job with Cognitechology, a company specializing in mimicking the functions of the brain specifically for artificial intelligence. This company worked hand in hand with a sleep center called “Veiled Conscious Sleep Institution” who had sleep clinics sprinkled throughout the country. Their main goal was to help their clients sleep better by studying the brain and how it, as well as the rest of the body, responds during each phase of the sleep cycle.
Liam’s job was to study the sleep patterns and dreaming and recreate it, as dreaming was a major part of human existence, but as he continued to work he realized that both companies were owned by his dad, James, and the work he was doing had nothing to do with artificial intelligence but EVERYTHING to do with creating and manipulating dreams, searching for access points to another’s mind, and making telepathy a real possibility.
Working side by side with his dad he starts seeing a whole new side to him especially when it came to his dads personal assistant, Sage, whom he falls in love with almost instantly.
Sage wants a normal life but is unsure she can achieve it with her past constantly popping up.
James is shrouded with mystery and hidden secrets begging to be out in the open. He wants success and will see all his dreams come true by any means possible.
And Liam is loyal to a fault. Oh…and he has a meeting to go to in the dream world so if you’ll excuse him, he’ll just be on his way.
