A sidetrip to Orre (Part 2)

A month had passed since he had begun his adventure in the Orre Region, and Death had wracked up quite the number of shadow Pokémon while taking down members of Team Snagem and Cypher. Unlike Wes, who repeatedly had foes escape to come fight him again, that never happened with Death.

Death had encountered and acquired many Shadow Pokémon, and noticed a common trend. While there were a few Johto/Kanto Pokémon, the vast majority of shadow Pokémon were native to the Sinnoh Region. This made since, given that Orre was much closer to Sinnoh then it was to Kanto and Johto, though it was geographically between them.

He actually ended up with four Shadow Staraptors, a shadow Luxray, a Shadow Rampardos, a Shadow Bastiodon, a Shadow Purugly, a Shadow Rapidash. a Shadow Spiritomb, a Shadow Gabite, a Shadow Lucario, 2 Shadow Quagsires, a shadow Hippopotas, a Shadow Marill, a Shadow Drapion, a Shadow Abomasnow, a Shadow Victreebell, a Shadow Politoed, a Shadow Slowking, a Shadow Bellossom, a Shadow Arcanine, a Shadow Mamoswine, a Shadow Dragonite and a Shadow Suicune.

All of these, though, were caught in his first two weeks. The rest of the month (five more weeks) was spent with Rui looking for any more hints of activity from Team Snagem and Cypher, while also growing closer with each other.

Death was sure that Team Snagem still had remnants around, but they had been scared into deep hiding, which was likely true for Cypher as well.

Now, he could have located Cypher's island that he knew about from Pokémon XD : Gale of Darkness, but he had no means of explaining how he knew about it, nor could he reach it without using magic to fly there, since he had never been to it and could not teleport there. Additionally, Rui had to return to Sinnoh at some point, so it was with reluctance that he planned to take her home and to leave a body double behind in Orre to be watchful for when Team Snagem and Cypher were active again.

Rui was from Shelter Town, near Snowpoint City, which made her vacationing in a bloody desert region make a lot more sense, as she was accustomed to a place that was perpetually cold. She came someplace that sounded like the exact opposite of her home, but she ended up mostly disappointed with the Orre region, with the one saving grace for her being meeting Death and travelling with him on his quest for seven full weeks (one whole month), even though it meant she missed her flight back home.

Of course, even though Death hadn't disclosed that his abilities were magical in nature, she was well aware that he could teleport them around at will, so she hadn't been too troubled with missing her flight. She just assumed his abilities were psychic in nature, since Psychics, while they were rare, were known to exist and could sometimes teleport.

She had genuinely started falling for him over the last month, even though she knew he had a bunch of wives. Technically, there was no specific law forbidding polygamy in any region that she knew of, though there were not many that actually did it. She was most surprised that he had the Pokémon League Champion of Kalos, Miss Diantha, as a fiancé.

Just like Kalos, her own region also had a female Pokémon League Champion named Cynthia, who was a major role model to Rui, but she also had a profound respect for Diantha. This was also true since before she was to be taken home to Shelter Town, Rui agreed to visit a mysterious place called Lyonesse and to meet the other women in Death's life, as well as to show her that the Team Snagem and Cypher Prisoners were well cared for. Death did not want Rui questioning in the future whether or not the prisoners ended up getting killed off after she participated in apprehending them, even though her role was only identifying shadow Pokémon.

Rui had nod decided whether or not she wanted to marry Death, but had agreed to meet the others and to give dating him a chance.

From Death's perspective, bringing her to Lyonesse was a huge deal since he'd be telling her about him being from another world and that the show 'RWBY' was the story of a parallel world version of his own world of origin. She wouldn't just meet his lovers, she would be fully initiated, and he would unlock her aura. She was a young and healthy woman so he was reasonably confident that he'd succeed, after all he had only ever really failed with Anakin Skywalker's mother, who had greatly deteriorated health from being a slave for so long.

While it wasn't conclusive, he had a working theory that it was that her soul had deteriorated due to a hard life and did not meet the minimal requirement for awakening aura. Since he succeeded with Leaf, Valerie, Serena, and Diantha, as well as all of his and their Pokémon, and indeed all of the Pokémon in his Ranch dimension since they all had high potential, this seemed logical to him.

Death hadn't been able to awaken aura for Red or Orange Potential Pokémon until they had increased their potential to at least Yellow grade, but with his skills it was easy enough to get them to that level.

Awakening Rui's aura just seemed a natural thing since she was going to date him, and if things advanced to a more intimate level in the future, they'd be sure to properly train her to use it, but at least for now she would have the passive benefits of aura to help her recover from injuries faster, be less likely to get sick, and to recover faster if she did still get sick. None of these benefits would be bad for her, after all. Even if she didn't end up marrying him, Death thought it seemed perfectly fine to share this much of a benefit with her as a show of good faith.

The first meeting of Rui and his wives and girlfriends went well, and they all got along fine, with Rui in particular showing admiration to Diantha. She may have admired Cynthia more at the start, but she had never met Cynthia before, so while she had only heard good things about the Champion of Sinnoh, it was different to actually meet her in real life and experience how great she was as she got to with Diantha.

As such, Diantha replaced Cynthia in Rui's heart as her favorite Champion.

Rui actually got along very well with all of Death's wives and girlfriends, as well as the others at Lyonesse, and was impressed by the amazing technology as well as the fact that RWBY was a real world and that everything she say in the show were things that actually happened. She even met Remnant Prime's Ruby, Yang, Neo, and Summer, who, with the exception of Summer who was a little girl, were apparently also dating Death now, while the Ruby, Yang, and Neo of Death's version of Remnant were already his wives.

After a bit of initial surprise, Rui came to terms with the idea of parallel worlds, and quietly wondered about other versions of herself in other parallel worlds. but quickly brushed it aside as there was just so much for her to learn.

Eventually, though, it was time for her to return home, and Death of course teleported with her to Shelter Town and walked with her to her home where they were met by Rui's parents, which was a bit awkward, as Death had to get 'the talk' from Rui's father.

Only after enduring all of that was Death given time to speak, and he explained how he and Rui had a working relationship and barely just even decided to try dating only after finishing their work. He told them what had happened in Orre, and how Rui had the power to identify Shadow Pokémon, which was crucial in countering Team Snagem and Cypher. He reassured Rui's father that they were not in a physical relationship yet, and that they hadn't even been out on a single date yet.

Death ended up being invited to stay for dinner, and Rui, in turn, boasted about how great Death was as a cook and convinced her parents to let him do the cooking, thinking to help him impress them with his skills before they learned he was a polygamist, just in case their relationship went somewhere in the future.

After a wonderful evening he made plans to visit her again in a few days and again to bring her to Kanto for the Pokémon League Tournament which he was set to compete in. He kissed Rui on the cheek in full view of her parents and giving no darns prior to teleporting to Lyonesse to meet up with Leaf, Serena, and Valerie. There was only a couple more weeks before the time for the Pokémon League Tournament to start was finally upon them, and he was now able to personally oversee everyone's training, rather then using an Avatar to do so.

Genesis and Rev in particular would be trained hard during these three weeks since their training had been limited for the last month due to pursuing Team Snagem and Cypher.

Death could create up to 50 Avatars and he pushed himself to the limit to not other train as many Pokémon as possible, but also to be sure not to neglect any of his wives or girlfriends.

Finally, the day of the Pokemon League Tournament came, and after picking up Rui. he brought her, along with Valerie, Leaf, Serena and Velvet to where he and Leaf were to register for the Tournament. As for why he brought Velvet with him, he figured why not? A couple days before the start of the Tournament, Velvet had made her first appearance in the show RWBY, and instantly everyone seemed to love her character, so having her seen in public was good publicity.

Velvet was a bit embarrassed, but at the same time was happy to be able to come out with Death, since she, along with Blake and Neon, hadn't gotten any opportunities to leave since coming to this world. Even before they registered, just waiting in line, Velvet was already getting a lot of attention due to her very real rabbit ears.

Next chapter is the start of the Pokémon League. Sorry the quality isn't so good this time, but I was pretty busy this week and had to rush to complete this chapter all today. I might come back and re-write this in the future.
