06 Recruitment

The recruitment of new shinigamis usually were facilitated by vice captain or seated officer from each divisions. It was very rare to see any of the Captain to attend the recruitment ceremony.

However, for this recruitment ceremony, not only one, but four of the Captains attended the recruitment ceremony.

The Captain of 5th Division, Takeuchi Hoshi

The Captain of 7th Division, Harada Yutou

The Captain of 8th Division, Shunsui Kyoraku.

The Captain of 11th Division, Kenpachi Kuruyashiki

When the presences of Captains were seen by the students and instructors, a big commotion amongst the crowds happened. Especially when seeing Kyoraku who was rarest amongst them to attend such event.

Behind them, the vice captains and the seated officers from each division entered the hall after the captains.

With the Captains sitting in the chairs, the representatives of each division can only stand behind them together with their officers except the vice captain of 1st Division, Chōjirō Sasakibe. He proudly sat on the chair that originally prepared for him.

After some speech from the headmaster of Shino Academy and the representative of Gotei13, Sasakibe, the recruitment ceremony started.

The students of the Class 1 were called to choose their divisions starting from the best student of this batch.

One by one, the students went to the division of their choice. While in the presence of the Captains, it didn't make the student falter from their original choices. Afterwhile, the first class batch finished their appointment.

Then it was time for the appointment for the rest of the students. A school instructor stepped forward an opened a list of appointments for the of the students.

"Wait" before the staff was about to announce the appointment, Kuruyashiki stood up from his chair and stopped him.

The instructor was shocked by Kuruyashiki. He had been wondering what was these captain reasoning to attended the ceremony.

He and other instructors had been discussing why would these captain came for. Then, they concluded that maybe there were students in elite class had attracted the captains to personally recruit them.

In the end, the selection of the elites student ended without any movement from the captains.

Never across in their minds that the person was from lower class able to attract the captain to attend the ceremony himself. And now, one of the captains has made his move.

As for the reason, why Kuruyashiki stopped the instructor was easy to understand. If Kuruyashiki called upon the student after his/her allocation, it meant that he had to cross the respective captain of the division that he/she was allocated to.

So the timing he need to do so was before the allocation. But, the instructor wondered, why didn't Kuruyashiki just inform the school to reserved the student for his division? Afterall, the second and third class didn't have the same privilege like the elites student.

Despite his thought, neither did he want to guess the intention of Kuruyashiki, nor he want to express his thoughts to him. The instructor just stood at the same place and just waited.

Kuruyashiki stepped forward towards the students as people in the hall were in their own guess.

He walked slowly before stopped in front one of the student and grinned.

"Say, boy. What's your name?" He asked.

'Oh crap! Why me?' Sai was screaming in his thoughts when he heard the question.

His plan on graduating with average result without attracting any attention had gone to scrap with that one question.

Now his name would be known to everyone here. Sai subconsciously stared towards his zanjutsu instructor who was standing with other instructors. Receiving the stare from Sai, Akio(zanjutsu instructor) showed a dumbfound face as he was also shocked by the sudden situation. As for his part, he kept his promise and didn't have anything to do with this.

"Oi. Answer me." Kuruyashiki's voice brought back Sai to attention to him.

"S-Sai. Nosaku Sai."

"Nosaku Sai, my 5th seated position is currently vacant. Interested?" Kuruyashiki offered with big smile.

The crowd in the hall was shocked by the sudden offer.

Through many years of Shino Academy recruitment ceremonies, special recruit for seated position weren't that unfamiliar. However, it had to be noted that even this year elites from the Class 1 weren't granted any seated position to show the quality of their batch.

For an unknown student from Class 2 was suddenly for a seated position was surprisingly enough. But for a high position such as 5th seated and the 11th Division on top of that? The offer surely caused a big shock to the other students including their instructors.

Why did they never heard of this student before. Amongst the instructors, only two people retained their calmed. Sai's first year reiatsu instructor and the zanjutsu instructor.

While Akio had his own story with Sai, Akira who taught Sai's reiryoku lessons, wasn't surprised at all with the current offer.

At first, he already knew that the nature of Sai was same as Kuruyashiki which was Chaotic. However the biggest reason he can calmly see the offer was given because of Sai's action six years ago.

Although he didn't know how strong Sai is currently, Akira was sure that Sai was strong enough for Kuruyashiki to offer him the position.

Six years ago, Sai had returned the Sekkiseki stones in the first month after the probation period ended.

It was a big shock to him to know that Sai already had his chaotic reiryoku perfectly under his control only after two months. Not only that, Sai never leaked any reiatsu accidentally after he returned the stones which confirmed his control over the chaotic reiryoku.

As an old instructor of the academy for hundreds of years, he had taught several students with Chaotic nature. However none of them ever returned the stones until their graduation years.

Some of them even spent their salaries as shinigami on renting the stones to continue increasing their strength after the graduation.

Sai's act of returning the stones in two months after he received them, had told him how monstrously talented this student of his was. As for why Sai had never shown his strength to the academy, Akira had thrown the thought away after he informed Yamamoto about it.

If Yamamoto had no comments for Sai's intentions, why would he care about it.

That's why, after Kuruyashiki came out and offered the position, Akira just looked calmly towards Sai.
