Within the shadow

Calris approached the chief and she looked at him before glancing at Myalis who smiled at her and she scoffed.

"Who are you to this kid Carlis?" The chief asked.

"She is my daughter, why is she here, Nila?" He asked and the chief exhaled deeply before bracing back on her desk.

"Didn't know you adopted a kid, well you are like a rolling stone, you travel a lot, so, doesn't matter, she is here because I have got questions, she is the reason the beast got away, she also thinks it was summoned within the city to cause destruction," She responded.

Calris looked at Myalis and she smiled at him as he approached her then placed both of his hands on her shoulders and she looked away from him as a smile appeared on his face.

"Tell me what happened, don't leave out a detail, got it?" He asked and she swallowed as he placed her to sit down.

Myalis exhaled deeply before she began telling Calris as well as the others everything that happened, including why she thought that the beast was summoned.

After making sense of what she told them, they realized that the beast was indeed summoned within the city by someone.

When she finished explaining herself, Calris patted her on the shoulder and she smiled at him before turning to the chief who was lost in her own thought.

"Chief, she answered all of your questions and since she is no longer a suspect I will be taking her home, if you have more questions, you know how to contact us," Calris said and the chief glanced at him.

"I will be in touch, for now, we will be investigating this matter, we need to know who summoned this beast, this doesn't feel right," She replied and Calris nodded.

"Also, kids, be careful next time," The chief said and Myalis smiled at her then they left the building.

The chief looked out the window of her office and her eyes narrowed as she looked at Myalis and the way Calris was talking to her.

Before getting onto the beasts to go home, Myalis turned to Yuna and the girl smiled at her.

"Yuna, thank you for tonight, I had fun," She said and Yuna smiled brightly.

"I did too, I will see you at the academy tomorrow?" Yuna asked.

"Definitely, good night," Myalis responded.

"Good night," Yuna said then she left and Myalis left with Calris.

While they were on their way home, Calris glanced at Myalis and sighed when he saw that she was acting like her normal jolly self once again.

"Myalis," He said and she looked at him.

"Don't worry, I am fine, I am going to continue getting stronger, I don't care about a lot of things now, but that doesn't mean I am not myself still, also, can you look into the beast summoning within the city as well?" She asked as he stared at her.

When they landed on the lawn in front of the temple, they got off of the creatures then Calris turned to Myalis and smiled after the creatures took off.

"Yeah, I will look into it as well, something doesn't feel right about this, for now, go get your rest, good night," He said before walking away.

"Good night," She replied, then went to her room.

Myalis got changed, then threw herself onto the bed before stretching off and yawning.

Due to her being tired, she didn't take much time in falling asleep.

Later that night, within the shadows of the city, a group of guys in black and red cloaks with the very same masks on their faces, met with each other, there was one who was standing before them and they bowed their heads to, their master a person that some of the seemed to fear.

"Is everything going according to plan?" He asked in a stern tone.

"Yes, but there was a bit of an interference earlier," One of the guys responded.

"What?" He asked.

"A young girl, she messed up everything, the beast listened to her after she broke the artifact on its horn," The person responded and he chuckled.

"Then the next time she interferes with matters that don't concern her, kill her as well," He said.

"But, she is just a young girl, is that really necessary?" One of them asked and the guy chuckled.

"Necessary? Don't joke with me, this is not a game, and no one will stand in our way, if you have a problem with killing even a bee, then you are of no use here," He responded before lifting his right arm up.

The guy dropped to his knees and begged for his life to be spared with his eyes trembling in fear, and their master grinned.

"Pathetic die," He said as his sword pierced through the person's heart. His followers jumped in terror as he casually pulled the sword from his body as if it was nothing, leaving a trail of blood on the ground.

"Clean this mess up," He said before disappearing and the followers bowed their heads, then went to get rid of the dead body and clean up the area.

The next morning when Myalis woke up, she stretched off, then looked at the time before getting out of her bed.

"Ah, I wonder what they are doing here," She mumbled as she remembered the ones in masks she saw within the shadows of the streets.

"I cannot waste time, we have a lot of physical training to do today," Myalis said before going to freshen up and doing her normal morning routine.

A while after, when she finished, she went to the dining room and greeted the others before grabbing her lunch and a few things to eat for breakfast.

"Myalis, you need to slow down, won't you stay to eat breakfast?" Lilian asked.

"Not today, I want to get there on time, the teachers will be doing a lot of different things with us today, teach us different things, I hear it can get pretty hard, I will be home early though, take care and have a good day, all of you," She said before rushing out the door and Lilian chuckled as Myalis left with Aster, heading to the academy.
