Chapter 29: The Deafening Silence.

Silence. 3 weeks of silence. It was my fault but I couldn't bring myself to say anything. They'd tried. Of course they had but I refused to let them in. Not yet anyway.

During that time neither Sirius or James had left me alone. Remus had tried everything to give me some time alone but nothing had worked just like their plans. Believe it or not they'd tried to even capture me just like they had done last year after their prank backfired with the paint and glitter. Of course I was smart enough to avoid all of these traps without the help from Remus (although he or Naomi did warn me most of the time). To be completely honest, I'd had enough of the silence and I think that the boys and Naomi had too. The Slytherins didn't seem to half mind except the fact that I hadn't spoken to them since that day too. I hadn't really spoken to anyone since that day, besides the girls that have kind of made it their duty to speak with me at least every morning, break, lunch and dinner. I didn't mind, except for the fact that Marlene was doing all in her power to pull me away from my books. She might be used to do the homework the day before it's due but I don't. I like getting my work done early.

Another week has passed and I wasn't left alone for one minute. Marlene had given up on trying to pull me away from my books and is now studying with Lily, Alice and I and Sirius and James were just as annoying as ever (but in a good way). The Slytherins were always trying to pull me away from the girls at lunch so I would sit with them until Remus and Naomi would rush over and pull me away from them. I didn't mind sitting with the Slytherins but I just didn't want too, not until I've fixed my friendship with the others. Thankfully Lily and Alice had given me a few tips to help out although they don't particular like the group except Remus and they don't mind Naomi but have never properly got to know her. And that is currently what we were half doing. We were both studying and talking about how to solve the friendship problems between us.

"You could always just apologize and trying talking the situation through with them" suggested Marlene, flicking through her potions book. "What harm can it do?" I sighed to myself and looked at the girl across the dorm room whilst laying across my Defense Against the Dark Arts book and the homework.

"She has a point Meadow" Alice added tiredly. "If it makes you feel better, if they don't like it then Marlene will happily punch them in the gut until they do like it".

"Alice no" and "you know me so well Al" was both shouted across the dorm room at the same time. I laughed and dipped my quill into the ink pot, writing out another sentence for the essay.

"I guess you have a point but I would still rather not hurt my friends." They all hummed in response and we got back to our work in silence but we would occasionally talk to help one another. I still wished that all of our homework was Care of Magical Creatures but I as much as I hoped, the homework task wouldn't just change out of nowhere into the homework I'd actually want to do. I would have to wait until next year for that but until then I would have to work on my main subjects and my main subjects only.

I'd taken the time to think about the options I would take for next year but I hadn't entirely decided. I knew I definitely wasn't going to do Muggle Studies and was still choosing between Divination, Arithmancy and Ancient Runes. I think that you can talk to McGonagall about taking multiple subjects but I didn't know if that would be too much or not. If I'm only aloud to take three electives, I would probably pick Divination, Care of Magical Creatures (obviously) and Ancient Runes. That could change though.

The only slightly bad thing about picking these subjects is that Remus, Sirius, James, Peter and Naomi will probably be too. If our friendship isn't fixed by the end of the year then that could be a problem. It would be a bit awkward otherwise. I really hoped we become friends again and soon. I missed them all so much yet I would back out when I go too. How I was a Gryffindor I didn't know. Not while I'm cowering from my friends. Did they even count as friends still? Friends don't ignore each other unless I was just a bad friend. Was I?

Very short chapter I'm sorry but I didn't know what to write.

Stay safe,
