A New Home and A New Start

(I try to do my research as I write so I can get things as accurate as I can but do keep in mind this is a au and I can and will changes things as I see fit. P.s. It's a little short but I figured I had reached a good stoping point.)

Turning to face Cain a smile showed on Carlisle's face. "I guess welcome to the family." Approaching the bed he held out his hand. Cain firmly gripped his hand but quickly noticed something off.

"Your hand is so cold?" To Cain Carlisle's hand felt like ice the great difference between their temperatures causing it to stand out far more. Carlisle chuckled lightly at Cain's shock. "I guess to you I do feel much colder. You see our family consists of vampires."

Cain's eyes widened as he looked at Carlisle like he had a second head. "Vampire? Like garlic, crosses and blood vampires I thought that was just fantasy?" Chucking at Cain's response Carlisle retreated his hand. "Ha well yes and no, you see we do drink blood but our family is vegan and only drink from animals. Though smelling human blood can be hard for us. Other that that we are faster and stronger with special abilities. We aren't weak to pretty much anything other than fire."

"What about the sun? I thought vampires were lords of the night and such?" Cain questioned fully invested in finding out as much as he can. "We don't have any major problems with it. The only thing is we stand out with it shining directly on us. Our skin reflects light like a disco ball."

Cain chuckled lightly with Carlisle at the last part. Cain soon after hung his head as he asked with some sadness. "So I guess I should wait here till I'm healed then? I don't want to cause discomfort to anyone." Thinking of being alone in such a environment after what he just experienced causes him some discomfort.

Seeing Cain's slackened form as he could tell he hated being here Carlisle comforted. "I'm sorry it would truly be best for you to stay here for a few days. But don't worry I'll be here anytime I'm not with a patient. This is a small town so I am not needed much."

True to his words Carlisle stayed with Cain and talked about his new family. Hearing so much about them he was excited but for some reason or another to Cain's surprise he mostly talked about one person in particular.

With Carlisle later that day.

Walking in his front door after spending most of his day talking to his new son Carlisle had a huge smile on his face. Waiting on the other side of the door was his wonderful wife. She walked into his embrace as she welcomed him. Seeing the smile on her husband's lips however she tilted her.

"Something good happen? I haven't seen you this happy since Jasper and Alice joined us." Speaking up to here Esme's eyes opened wide as a excited look shown on her face. Not letting her keep guessing he answered her. "Yes we have a new son. However things are a little complicated."

Esme's brows furrowed but before she could speak the sound of wind breaking sounded as the couple was surrounded by their kids. A rowdy voice spoke up enthusiastically. "We got a new brother what is he like." Emmett that stood arm and arm with his mate Rosalie spoke excitedly.

Carlisle just shook his head as he looked at his kids as Esme moved to his side. "Yes his name is Cain and he just went through a rough time and is currently still in the hospital. Cain seems to be a nice boy and I'm sure he will get along great with you all." Everyone looked excited to some extent except for one person.

Edward's eyes were wide as he quickly turned to look at Alice. "He is Alice's mate!" Everyone froze at his words. "Edward!" Carlisle shouted at his first son. Everyone was startled that Carlisle yelled at Edward. It was a known fact that Edward held a special place in the older vampires heart.

"Alice I didn't want to say anything as it's not confirmed till you meet but he could possibly be your mate." Alice's eyes stared at him asking for more as they started to water. "Cain has gone through some experiments by some sick people and he is now a fox hybrid."

Seeing his newest daughter's face Carlisle couldn't help but explained in a gentle tone. "So there is a good chance he was your mate as he is a blue fox." Alice's whole body shuddered as she heard the word fox. But then realized the cause of him becoming a fox.

"He was experimented on?" Alice usually bright and bubbly voice suddenly turned sharp as she questioned a palpable rage visible on her face. This took everyone by surprise. But soon everyone else had similar reactions as they looked at Carlisle.

This was their new family as well as Alice's probable mate. Seeing everyone so angry for their new brother Carlisle smiled gently as he re assured. "Don't worry Cain already took care of it and then some. He burnt everything they had to show for his suffering as well as the one who orchestrated it."

Hearing him they calmed slightly but were obviously still upset. "When can we meet him." Alice's eager voice cut through the stiff atmosphere. All she wanted to do now was reassure him he was save now.

A week later Cain was finally discharged from the hospital. His wounds were completely healed but he was still bandaged to keep up appearances. Carlisle kept good to his words and spent most of his time keeping him company. The rest of the staff didn't mind once they found out he was adopting the poor boy and even made sure he had more free time.

It was currently early morning on a week day as Carlisle took the day off so he could accompany Cain to his new house. "God it feels so good to be out of there!" Cain said as he stretched while they walked out of the hospital. Carlisle chuckled as he watched the excited boy from the side.

"I bet. Well now that everything is clear I won't make you go back to a hospital again. Not that you would need one with how quickly you heal." Cain's body had been healing progressively quicker as the days passed. If it wasn't for the fact he didn't want to hurt Cain, Carlisle's curiosity wanted to see how his body was changing.

The ride to the house was quiet as Cain watched out the window. He loved the woods, even more so now that he had changed. He couldn't wait to go for a run though them as he was told there was a lot around here. Having grown up in New York he didn't have much experience with it besides the occasional trip with his parents.

After a while they pulled into a long gravel driveway that lead to a beautiful three story glass and wooden house. The area around the house was cleared of nearby trees as to allow more sunlight into the many windows. "Definitely looks like a house for vampires." Cain spoke sarcastically but the awe in his voice was evident.

Carlisle chuckled as he spoke. "Esme loves the sun so when she designed the house she made sure. The few times we get it here she can enjoy it to her fullest." Cain's head whipped to Carlisle in shock. "Your wife designed this? That's amazing!" Cain couldn't wait to meet her more now.

He loved the design of the house and how well it fits with the environment. He loves nature and seeing how well everything was taken care of around the house and stories from Carlisle so did Esme. 'So this is my new home.'

As the car came to a stop he slowly steeped out. The fresh breeze of the woods rustling by as his blue hair flowed in the wind. The sent of the greenery a stark contrast of the sterile environment he had be in the last few months.

Carlisle lead the way as they made there way inside. Inside he was greeted with a large open floor living room along with a beautiful caramel haired woman. Stepping forward and speaking with a gentle smile on her face she spoke.

"Welcome home Cain."
