CHAPTER 40

Karthikeyan looked at the large hole created on the walls in front of him. 

What was before a completely unscathed wall was now having a part of it shattered and that too to a basic skill like [FIREBALL] which was known to be weakest fire skills.

Skills ranged from level 1 to level 9 according to current knowledge.

Due to some research , it was established that skills ranging from level 1 to 3 were mostly skills that were not helpful in combat , but rather in other jobs.

For example , if someone compiled all the skills of fire for that matter ranging from level 1 to level 9 , they would see a pattern in it. The first three levels would be for the common task like creating fire for cooking or bathing or producing not so potent fire that could still burn something.

Basically those skills were not potent enough to even cause a dent in a structure or on a person who was skilled in combat. It would work fine against a normal person who didn't still awaken like kids or the untrained persons.

The most basic fire skill that could still be used in combat started from level 4 mostly. Currently the most ubiquitous one in the level 4 skill of fire was the [The Ember]. It produces a fire similar to fireball but is less potent. It took 30 mana points to cast while for chi it took about 50 points of those.

Karthikeyan himself had a level 7 skill that created fire around his sword called [RINGS OF FIRE]. It was a really cool skill.

Although both chi and mana could be used for basically any skill, the amount required for the usage varied. The [RINGS OF FIRE] skill required 300 chi units while on the other hand it only required 200 mana units , even though mana is easier to absorb than chi.

The reason behind was something that was still under research. Unfortunately up until now Karthikeyan couldn't get his hand on a decent skill that used less number of chi.

Yes , he got a lot of skills when he dived the dungeons , but still he was a person who believed in quality rather than quantity.

All the skills he got were level 3 to level 5 , with level 5 being rare in itself.

In fact not a lot of people had a level 5 skills to begin with. Those who had were either lucky, strong or bestowed skills upon by their talent.

The highest skill was level 9 and was actually bestowed upon by the talent the person received.

Information about the level 9 skill was still a mystery though , as the person refrained from commenting about the skill.

Both Karthikeyan and yerilia had came out of their hiding spots. Now they were rushing towards the wall at high speeds.

There were archers stationed on the walls. But all other had lost their footing due to the high speed fireballs that had hit the walls and cracked it open.

"Karthikeyan , make sure you kill all the demons on the left , I will clear the right" Yerilia said in a calm tone but loud enough for Karthikeyan to hear who was running alongside Yerilia.

"You got it" Karthikeyan said.

This was not a plan that they came up after contemplating for a lot of time. Yerilia just came up with it on a whim. In fact Karthikeyan didn't know what to do up until now when Yerilia just started to run after the walls once she cast the skills.

"Well it's not a big issue , its just a level 1.5 dungeon. Nothing bad could happen right?" Karthikeyan sighed to himself.

Soon they were besides the wall. Using quick movements they climbed the walls.

The demons were not disorganised but were still fazed.

Some demons who were caught up on the situation were just wither burned to crisp or their body were nowhere to be found.

Karthikeyan had to take care of the left side.

In front of him were 20 demons.

All of them were clad in basic bronze armour. There were only 5 or 7 archers in between them. Others were using spears or swords.

The demons on seeing their intruder soon took hold of their weapons. 

Their enemy was fast! It hadn't been even a minute since the walls were hit and now he was standing right besides them!!

Karthikeyan took out his steel sword. It was called the CLADDED SWORD.

He bought it from the store for 1000 currencies and it was a level 5 weapon.

It was lightweight and also very long about 1.2 m which fit Karthikeyan style. He liked swords that were long.

Karthikeyan had also mastered the moves from a manual he had bought. The manual cost him around 1500 currencies.

Manuals were book that could be bought from the store of the system. They contained techniques and movements of different weapon combat styles.

Although they didn't bestow upon a skill or anything , they were still very important.

The moves and techniques mentioned in the manuals were the efficient ways of handling the weapons. 

No matter how strong a person was , if he just swinged the sword in random directions he would definitely lose to a weaker person who had better techniques.

Of course the techniques or movements had levels themselves. They followed the same levels as skills did. Currently the highest technique that was known and available in the shop was level 4.

But like the skills , they were either extremely costly to buy or very difficult to find .

Not to mention they weren't like skills and weren't included with a talent.

The shop also had many restricted areas hinting a possible expansion but the details and the conditions to meet the expansion remained a mystery.

Karthikeyan gripped his sword tightly.

The technique he learned was the level 2 technique called [THE DANCE OF THE SWORD]

It contained just four moves. The first three moves were just different variations of basic slashes like the horizontal slash , vertical slash and diagonal slash. But they were very much detailed out.

The exact stance to use, how to adjust different slashes according to different situations and how to effectively combat , everything was mentioned.

The fourth move was just a combination of all the moves. It was called the same name as the manual. It included the technique which was nothing but a combination of different moves performed at the same time.

Techniques were also called movements.

Karthikeyan lunged forward while making sure his stance and posture was proper. In no time he was near a demon was just level 12, far below him.

Before he could react , he horizontally slashed his head off his shoulders.

Blood spurted out.

The landing was done perfectly as well. He just before the landing had transferred all of his mass to a single place and balanced his weight with meticulous precision.

How was he able to execute the moves so flawlessly when there was only a limited amount of time?

Well for one he was a monster and second of all , all the people of the world who were exposed to energies such as mana or qi were generally more intelligent than those who were not.

That meant the learning speeds and the remembering capability of people had improved.
