CHAPTER 39

"What do you think" Karthikeyan asked.

Besides him was Yerilia. Both of them hid behind a large tree. With special binoculars they observed the demons 10 kms away. They had formed a small town near a small river that flowed in front of them.

They were currently in one of the most possible locations for setting up civilisations. 

This was their first search and they had found the demons.

They were up the ridge while the demons were below. The demons had probably cleared out the jungle.

Considerably big walls made up of bricks lined up the town from all four sides. The guards with arrows were guarding the town.

Karthikeyan assessed them with his [ANGELIC PROWESS] skill. The guards were fairly strong ranging in the level of 12 to 15, the average being level 14.

Much stronger than the guards he encountered in his first dungeon dive. They were level 9 at max.

"About 40 of them. Probably not a major town" Yerilia commented.

"Looks like it" Karthikeyan replied.

"What do you wanna do? Move about stealthily or just go in for the action."

"Huh, what did you expect.?"

Yerilia summoned her halberd. 

"We are going in"

Saying that she just jumped off the ridge that was probably 20 meters tall.

"Ah, I forgot this. Yerilia as she got stronger got more aggressive."

Karthikeyan shaking his head soon followed her.

A fairly large room occupied the highest part of the defensive wall that was around 15 meters tall and 25 meters thick.. This was the room assigned to the mayor / commander of Town A of this dungeon Robespierre. 

The room was fairly decorated but kept simplistic. It had a look befitting that of an administrative room. At the end was a desk on which paperworks were kept.

A man could be seen occupying the seat of the desk.

He was average looking and had ears pointy like elves. He wore a green robe and had blond hair. His skin was pale and healthy. He looked quite muscular and young.

Of course he was an elf. A common belief was that elves were all beautiful and handsome.

That was not the case. Just like any other races that had variability in facial features like humans, elves, vampires, dragons, dwarves and so on , they too had variability.

In that variability also came "averageness" "below averageness" and so on.

In terms of appearance , it was not a disruptive curve or directional curve. It was your normal stability curve.

Soon letting out a sigh , Robespierre stood out from his desk not before grabbing a photo frame that stood by his hand on the desk. 

Standing besides the window that was behind him , he saw the town below.

It had been almost 1 and a half year , since they had settled here.

So far , the population of the demons in this dungeon was about 2000. They had also set up about 5 towns . A fairly decent amount considering their dungeon was an easy level and and at the same time a 1.5.

What was interesting was that usually it took only 6 months or a year at maximum for a dungeon to be attacked by the other kingdom. But it had since been 1 and a half year and no invaders had attacked them yet.

At first the ruler of this dungeon thought that they had been disconnected from both the kingdoms and were floating in another dimension. 

But the fear was put out when they could contact their kingdom just fine.

Well all these trivial matters didn't concern Robespierre. 

He looked at the photo frame he held.

It was a family photo. In it , he , his wife , his 10 year old daughter and 6 year son stood, all smiling. 

Robespierre couldn't help but let out a small smile.

Just 6 more months and he would be out of this hell hole. After this it would not be until another 10 years that he would be forced to serve.

Who wants to fight here against the other kingdom? that too in a low level dungeon that had very little possibility of surviving?

Not him. All he wanted to do was live peacefully with his family until he died. He couldn't give a damn about killing the other kingdom people.

The demon kingdom were fairly united and it was their biggest strength and their biggest downfall. 

As they were united , they were ruled by an iron fist. That meant very little freedom of action.

 On the other hand ,the common kingdom was very disorganised , not united and too often engaged in infighting amongst themselves.

But this meant , more freedom of action. From what he heard , in the common kingdom , it was the people themselves that mostly decided what they wanted to do and what not.

At time Robespierre wanted to be born at the common kingdom. But if he did , he would have never met his beautiful wife who he values more than his life and loves beyond words.

But suddenly his peace was interrupted when he heard a blast.

The walls rattled.

Robespierre quickly put the photo frame in his inventory that was in a form of a ring. The invaders were probably here. He was not surprised by it but was rather expecting when they would arrive. Of course it might be just an accident but nevertheless he had set up elaborate plans .

"Fireball" Yerilia screamed on top of of her lungs.

[FIREBALL] was a level 5 skill and was fairly a weak one. But as Yerilia had maximum proficiency , it was slightly potent but not too much. Yerilia was not a mage and clearly special power was not her forte as it was still in the basic stats.

But still it was enough to rattle the walls as they were poorly constructed. 

Each fireball cost 50 mana points and she cast about 10 of them , instantly plummeting her mana reserves to 2000.

She didn't care though as huge damage were done to the walls of the town. In fact a major section of the wall was damaged.
