CHAPTER 41

The body fell with a thud on the path that was made up of cement and bricks. it was the path that was used to travel the entire length of the wall that covered the town inside.

Karthikeyan splashed his sword. The blood that was stuck to his sword sprinkled down as it was holy water.

His purple eyes shone. His skin which was very susceptible to tanning was now covered with hot blood on one side.

Karthikeyan just took a deep breath.

The strike he dealt now was something he has practiced all his free time on. He almost dived only a dungeon per day and that itself gave him a experience of near to one year.

The remaining time he either used to rest or practice his swordplay. He was not someone who just believed in pure strength. Although him not facing any profound dangers from these demons and handling them quite right could be handed to his talent but still...

Without practicing his swordplay and his techniques, he could never be this smooth with the kills. Even before getting the manual about 10 days ago he for all he knew since the apocalypse has started has been meticulously practicing the sword.

Karthikeyan took a look at the town below with an indifference expression. These past 10 days this was the attitude he thought of adopting to the demons.

To the humans and the people of the common kingdom he would keep a reserved but still an open attitude that would not antagonise someone for no reason. He didn't want to be a corny edge lord or a hero or a villain.

He would just do his part in the universe. He would do something that would benefit him and his loved ones while not trying to hurt others as much as possible as he simply didn't want to care about them.

He didn't want to be a hypocrite anymore and be carefree. If he wanted to take hold of his life especially in this hellhole which is countless times hard to survive than normal life then he had to change.

As for the other kingdom , well he would adopt an indifferent expression.

Well only time would tell how his character would be shaped...

The demons who saw Karthikeyan were stuck to their place. This monster that suddenly appeared out of nowhere was really strong. Just now he had with speed that was discernible with naked eyes decapitated a man.

He was about level 12 , while they were at best level 14 and even some level 13. Even though they were stronger than him , still it was only a difference of one or two levels right?

Karthikeyan's aura or his impact on the universe which everyone could sense no matter which kingdom was far stronger than them and they could feel it.

"You monster" a demon who was jacked shouted. He was short but very muscular and looked like a rhino. He had two horns protruding out of his skulls and his ears looked like that of a elf.

"How dare you kill my best friend, I will not spare you"

"Activate skill [RHINO CHARGE]" with a frenzy shout he replied.

[RHINO CHARGE] was a level 5 skill. It allowed the user to go into a berserk strength and increased the strength and stamina by quite some considerably. Its drawback is that after countdown , the physical defence of the host is reduced by 10 percent of total defence.

This was a skill that would be basically useless in the higher levels like level 50 or so , where stats would be very high and the 10 points increase would not be helpful compared to the drawback it offered.

Without any weapons he rushed onto Karthikeyan. He was one of the demons who was near Karthikeyan. The demons themselves took a step back. The [RHINO CHARGE] couldn't differentiate between friend and foe. 

The rhino man was a melee master and knew no techniques.

With a whistling sound he punched towards Karthikeyan's face , his entire force transferred to it. The time seemed to tick. Karthikeyan had activated the skill [THE CURSE OF THE SHADOW].

By now it has become almost second nature to it. With a cool-down of only 5 minutes that would pass in a blink of an eye, it was a op skill.

In fact his other skills like [ANGELIC PROWESS] and [ANGELIC BOON] were powerful in their own rights.

While one skill was completely broken allowed him to fill his mana or chi reserved in under 2 minutes , the other skill healed 50 percent of his health with a cooldown of 8 minutes.

Well that literally meant he didn't need no kind of mana or health potions.

He was literal damage dealing tank.

This allowed him to spend a lot of his blank points on his speed stats and other stats like accuracy and stamina which he lacked any skills to boost with.

Karthikeyan dodged by his right and with a simple chop to where he thought some of the important veins that supplied the blood to the Rhino man's brain hit the neck.

With tremendous force and speed that far exceeded that of the Rhino.

The Rhino man at once fell to the floor as well. A good 5 seconds passed.

The body lay lifeless with out any soul and movements.

Everyone drew a cold breath in. This was pretty much real. They were going to get massacred. They were sure. The man in front of them who didn't look any older than them was actually beating them in a one sided combat.

They were all young men who were contracted under the mandatory military service. Their age from the range of 16 to 25. One had to serve their first mandatory military service at least 2 years at the latest of 30 years. Then after 10 years would they have to serve again.

Only the top echelons of the demon forces were immune to this rule which also included the demon lord who all of the demons consider the one and only god.

In fact now some of them praying to this exact god.

Karthikeyan without wasting any time just dashed towards the other demons who were about 18 in number. He didn't have to wait any longer. He had to finish this battle fast.

The blood started to splat out in random directions. A head just flew towards the town. The people had heard the commotion in the wall.

At around this time , a demon could be seen climbing the ladder of a long tower that was situated a little away from the wall towards the south of the town.

With quick movements and panic he soon hit the drum. The drum resounded across the town which was 2 km in area. The drum' sound had been enhanced by the mana and chi present in the environment.

The demon had heard commands from the second in command to hit the drum as fast as possible. He was there in the wall when the attack took place. To say it was not scary he would be lying.

From top of the tower , he saw a head falling down towards the town. Cold sweat started to form in his body.

As soon as the emergency alert was heard, the people were alerted. Some came out while the others stayed inside.

The ones who came out where the ones who knew little bit of combat.

At once Robespierre had given his commands and the remaining guards and soldiers took their positions.

He knew at once the guards at the towers were mostly killed because of a team of scout who he stationed inside the town.

These were the scouts who saw possible enemy movements and also friendly movements such as trade and cargo.

In fact he confirmed the presence of enemies from these very scouts. 

The fact that troubled him the most was that these were caused by 2 individuals.
