Well I would let him definitely be a part of the series, as far as his physical features go he can potray Jamie Lanister easily. However as seen with 127 hours he has no problem changing his physical features, and Jon Snow is arguably better character for him as both suffer from familial backgrounds(although Lucas has a bit more bratual one ), both have to leave there home early, etc
game of thrones Jon snow or Robb stark can't really see him as Jamie to young to play that role plus if he wants to do other stuff Jon snow works since like first till the third season we don't really see Jon that much and game of thrones isn't just about one character the focus is on multiple people
I think joining Game of Thrones would be a mistake. The time commitment is huge. On average, it takes approximately six months to film a season of Game of Thrones, with each episode taking an average of 25 days to shoot. In that time, he could film 3-6 movies. Principal photography for a lot of movies lasts only a few weeks, usually. It depends on the project, but it would be less of a time commitment than Game of Thrones.

I don't know man I like all the OG characters too much to suggest replacing them. However, I think MC should try supporting characters instead of leading ones. Like Podric Payne, Lancel Lannister, Dario Naharis etc. These are some characters that left compelling impressions during the series. So please do think carefully about it.
