just my two cents ;But bulldozing your way of training isn't really effective you need to at least tell what he is doing what type from training what type of obstacles he is facing If you just say he is doing training, the story really becomes bland.

If he becomes a surgeon, he can work with the strange doctor, that would be a door to the mystical arts.
