at this point it's not the MC's stupidity but simply poor writing on the part of the author, The author keeps saying that the MC has the potential to be supreme leader and Yumi is a brilliant Mastermind who assassinated the elders of the Oni royal house and seized political power but from what I have read they are two complete idiots I won't entrust with a village to talk less of an interstellar empire.
Erich is...I don't want to call him stupid so the best word that can act as a substitute is overly emotional. He has three OP powers that could've gotten him very far in this novel. I don't know if the author has nerfed him or not because with Future sight, Telepathy and Cyberkinesis or Technokinesis, I can think of a few ways he could've gotten out of that situation by using the Emperor as a shield.
