Dang - I mean, we all kind of saw it coming, but STILL. The action is coming way earlier in this book, since LOTM gave us all the worldbuilding we needed. Poor Ava didn’t deserve that. Huh. So some kind of distortion of the previous traditions is present. I wonder if Ava knew this was going to happen or if she was just murdered. If she knew, this would become a whole lot creepier.

guys this really does have something to do with an outer diety or an evil god. 1st we get a mention of fors or( the mysterious lady) not being able to help otherwise everyone dies showing that something is controlling everyone and that if the change is not from within the group of people that are in danger, that change can cause an unexpected disaster, maybe the corruption of the outer God kills everyone unless they actively overcome it by themselves. 2nd we get a mention of the eternal blazing sun church destroying whole villages who succumb to evil gods seems pretty useless knowledge that was mentioned on the passing unless this village could have the same possible ending if lumian can't save it. there is also the Padre who wants more power and influence what better way to get it than to take credit for getting rid of a village who was corrupted by an evil god. 3rd this festival seems awfully suspicious where did it originate from why do people do it this is never mentioned and the festival seems to be there since forever. Also why would the Padre kill some random normal girl who isn't even a beyonder, unless as previously mentioned this is a sort of ritual or prayer to the evil god who slowly corrupted the people into believing that this festival is a normal thing and with the weakening of the barrier the outer God is now trying to make them his pawns. Therefore the Padre killing the main focus of the festival which is the spring elf near the end of the festival would mean him stopping a ritual and causing a disaster to occur to the village and it's people. So after he kills the entire village who was corrupted he gets to take credit for it. makes sense with the letter who says people are getting weirder meaning they are being corrupted lumian also notices less prayer to the eternal blazing sun an indication of people turning over to the outer or evil god. anyways this is just a theory and there is also the three foreigners the owl and the dream so I could be completely off the mark because I cam up with this in like 3 minutes.

This chapter gave me chills the entire time. Especially after the realization Lumian had.
