It’s a turn off for me that you made him so obsessed over the fiction and fanfiction aspects. It felt way too fourth wall breaking, messing with the immersion of the story. There is also a legitimate reason why everyone in Gotham is dark, there is an evil warlock entombed in Gotham, his evil influence having spread out into the city and contaminated the minds of it’s residents, brining out the worst in them. It also feels quite illogical for him to have those feelings as to him everything should feel extremely real even if there is a sense of disconnect, having an existential crisis implies this is not so. In the newer adaptations, like in young justice, they have done a much better job of bringing out the human aspects of the characters as well.
There are some things I don't understand, Mc could earn money trying to work, simple work like washing dishes or cleaning, things like that, he seems like he hasn't even thought about it, he's already tried to think about stealing, that's not the mind of an ordinary person, other than that What's stopping Mc from trying to leave Gotham and go to a better city? this story has some things that are a little weird, is his mind being controlled or something? because if that's the case, it's ok I can understand, after all he had a kind of trauma, because he was in this world, his mind may be being influenced by the system I don't know, maybe something like that can explain these things.
