Riftan shouldn't be so restricting and Maxi- just because he tells you he doesn't want you to study magic doesn't mean you should stop. What about all the progress you made? Agnes certainly is a free spirit, and no man but her father will ever be the boss of her. I pity whoever tries to marry her. 🤣Riftan did compare her to a haughty wild horse who does what it please. It's been about 5 chapters now that I've read and my heart aches... Riftan is trying to protect Maxi but is hurting her in very deep ways, she can't live anymore? this is awful. Before, I didn't like the chapters in which Riftan traveled. now I'm rooting for him to go soon, for Maxi have at least a little freedom

I know riftan's actions are considered wrong but maxi is the only family that he has and he almost lost her so its normal for him to react this way.

also....CAN READERS STOP WITH THE UNSOLICITED SPOILERS!!! and no, idc if you mark "spoiler" in caps before your spoiler. I'm also not talking about directly replying to someone who request spoilers cause at least they asked and the reply is auto collapse from view. I'm taking about the folks that comment on a chapter and incorporate very obvious direct or indirect spoiler in their comments. I suspect some do this to preemptively address concerns about certain things getting better or worse but imo you're robbing new readers the chance to experience thing as you did. Its unfair. Just stop. Please.

Riftan is doing exactly like Maxi's father, keeping her locked up all day, everyday. This is so selfish, he knows Maxi wasn't happy then and she isn't happy right now as well

So I have a new theory/headcanon: what if Agnes suspects how Maxi was treated by Duke Croyso? She would have met the Maxi's sister. She knows the Duke. She seems very aware of how confined and constrained women of her time are and especially how bad it can get. I wonder if she suspects that Maxi was neglected or even abused.

Riftan has moved into helicopter parent territory and is solely operating on his own feelings with no concerns to Maxi's own. I don't even think its about Agnes anymore he's simply letting whatever fears he has in concerns to Maxi control his actions.
