Correct me if I'm wrong. But didn't the story start by saying the setting was in the ancient whatever dynasty type civilization? But now its in the present day type civilization?
Is he really an idiot, was it ever said that his talendo only works within the survival game? he could just go kill some animals. Cats, for feline grace - some coordination skill, agility, balance or any passive cat skill. And this holds true for all animals, dog better smelling or hearing, darkvision owl, almost all animals would have some passive ability. if he just goes to a dojo is completely a waste, 1 week of classes doesn't change a thing, at most he can learn to punch or kick right and that's it. Now I'm going to keep reading to see if he's going to waste his talent or do something really productive.
I'd use my money to get the following things if I didn't have any already: - Durable Work/Outdoor clothing in dull colors like Greys, blues, maybe dull greens and browns. Stuff that blends in with the environment like camouflage but isn't camouflage at the same time. - A coverall to go over the before mentioned clothing. -A cap, maybe a helmet, but even a baseball cap makes a difference in a lot of scenarios. Just wearing that allows you to avoid hitting your hat due to the center point on top and the cap itself can keep you from being blinded by the sun. - A slim, durable backpack for some rapid improv resource gathering. -Double pair of socks, baselayer supportive socks, outer layer thin stretchy ones. Putting something hard like a bar of soap or a rock inside a sock makes it an extremely painful and effective weapon. People kill eachother like that in prisons. - a climbing rig, just incase it gets through as clothing. - a good pair of boots, preferably the more mobile urban ones like the Oakley SI assault boots that will allow you to climb and such and favor hard terrain like streets but come with an anti-slip coating. They may not be as good in forests and fields but better than sneakers for sure. - an easy to breathe in mask. Id layer it first with a disposable surgical mask, and would add something like a mesh mask or balistic ontop the first time, just to see what level of 'clothing' gets through. -stab vests etc. -protective sports gear like shinguards or helmets etc. - maybe actual armor gets through. - a belt made of sturdy cord that can carry your own weight and be unraveled as a long slim rope, etc. - gloves with hard plastic knuckles. I'd layer up semi regular the second time in, with my actual gear and something pushing the limits of clothing the second. I'd probably go for hard plastic sports gear ontop of my prefered getup, and if that works, I'd suy some metal shinguards or something the next time to see if it gets through. If it does, I'd fabricate my own so they can be taken apart and be turned into makeshift weapons. Hard plastic can be too tough. Still, the object in your sock approach is the most likely to work, followed by a heavy leather belt then the armored gloves
This is my understanding. Those animals are normal animals. Their abilities are their nature itself and not some skills they gained out of nowhere so MC cannot plunder anything. Like a fish breathing underwater is its nature, and not its skill. Author probably expected everyone to understand it, but we are spoiled by the wish fulfillment novels where MC can get heavenly skills from everything.
I still believe it's innate ability, like those sharks he killed in later chapters, he gained the ability to breathe underwater, but being an aquatic animal, whether he was in or out of the game he could still breathe underwater. from water. therefore, i think normal animals also "have" abilities, just not status to show. I think status skills are just a representation, let's say, an aquatic animal would almost certainly have an aquatic breathing skill and a swimming skill, it obviously has those skills outside of the game as well, it just doesn't have a "status" to show .
