this is so stupid, did the author decide to ruin this novel in this episode? it was going so well. .. .. .. .. like this episode could be made In to a stand up comedy section on YouTube. .. cuz I'm laughing at how bad this was
Snoring_Panda:ironically this is the chapter that helped save my novel. Only after this did I realize what it was I wanted to write in this book.
Feels incredibly forced. As far as character development or growth goes it's not very organic, it feels very forced indeed. Systems that control the main character are distasteful, the main character now appears like someone who is unable to make their own decisions and mistakes without some higher power punishing them for it. Systems should always be an extension of the main character that support them in whatever they do imo, controling your protagonist with them is never a good idea.
honestly bad. that the system is a hypocritical overly righteous entity thats tortures as take away his ability to fully defend himself because he acted in self preservation. was what he did to those four morally? no but was it his best choice in the moment? yes. this chapter felt absolutely forced.
I have two points, 1. The system is forcing the MC to change character wise against his own will making him into a completely different person then who he is orginally. 2. The "System" should be an extension of the MC not the other way around. the punishment SHOULD not have been this and is the wrong way to go, it could have been something like a lower cap on in energy or disabling certain abilities, given a task to do in a certain amount of time, anything but this. It feels really forced and unpleasant to read. Will continue to read, but if it continues in this fashion I may give up on it unfortunately.
What the heck is this? Where are the innocents? I'm trying to find any in this chapter yet I find only one man defending his life against a bunch of people who very, very willingly tried to kill him a second ago. How are these men innocent? Blackmailed? They very happily complied though, there was no hesitation mentioned anywhere? The fact is, they *Tried to kill the MC* and he killed them in turn Where are the innocents here?
WN readers have gotten used to sudden cold blood killer MCs with close to no issues on who they kill except for chain villains that are used to bring the plot forwards. As a result to make it appear to themselves that it is not their view that is too closed due to certain repetitive novels they begin to say this such as "this feels so forced" in a bid let the novel harbor all the bad qualities they supposedly see, I am sure most of them don't have an actual good reason why they say it other than they dislike the circumstances that are taking place, which that itself is fine as long as they don't start making false accusations as the ones mentioned. Also as a result some readers begin to have the same view as they keep seeing it everywhere as such.
Unsofisticated brats. This gives depth to the novel that it sorely needs. Mc abused his privilges. There must always be a price for unlimited power. This keep's him human and gives great character development. The novel needed this, otherwise it would just be a broken mc with no limits. Novels like that just turn into boring repititions.
I'll be honest I can see this being the tipping point from where people would straight up drop this novel. While what the MC did to those innocent dudes was wrong. I get why he'd do it. Those "innocent" guys would just go run to his dad and security to apprehend him so taking them all out was a good idea. Though I feel he could've handled it better. I do think what the system did was incredibly stupid. It's nothing more than conditioning. Forcing him to be a 'good guy'. Not allowing him true free will. Amplifying his emotions to know what he did was wrong? Basically an annoying time out. In a sense I do get it. That System did say it had bad hosts at one point. What I do wonder is how far it can mess with him.
