Awespec
Hope the author sees this. I haven't gotten two deep in the chapter. The away team calls the coin toss. If a team wins the coin toss, they would elect to kick or "defer" to the second half. No team would choose to receive at the beginning of the game. The reason why, it's statistical and psychology strategy. For example, If the game is tied 14-14 and I score a last minute touchdown before half time (I am now winning, 21-14.) If I chose to receive in the 2nd half, I now have the first opportunity to score and if I'm successful and make it (28-14), I have complete momentum in the game.
Also, I see what you were doing with the jumping offsides, but there was some missteps. It would've been better if the rookie was a linebacker. A corner would never be that close to the line of scrimmage for the hard count to be effective, he's too far to be impacted by it. More importantly a corner would only be that close if they are playing press coverage and if that's the case, they're not blitzing because they'd never get to the QB in time.
