I really don't even understand why people dislike Ivy this much. Specially when she is way more relevant to the plot than Daphne.

Should have just taught both of them occlymency constantly so he can tell them stuff. That said, it seems most of it is just him being "I can't tell you to protect you" bs. What he is basically saying that he doesn't trust them.
