So he didn't prepare... again. He set up some defenses but he could have done so many different things to test the vault first instead he walked right into it face first. Reacting to the trap rather than trying to figure out what causes it like an intelligent person. He attempts to detect magic then immediately goes "It's impossible!" when he can't find anything. Why not toss a rat or something into the room and see what happens? Why not test things first before immediately giving up all hopes of understanding and just walking into the trap? I get that he's an idiot besides magic but bull-rushing every problem by smashing it with his head isn't really working out well and he's not learning from it because he eventually succeeds each time.
So... He basically got hit all over again and still has no real clue to why, how and what happened? Considering our protag is already quite OP and unless he's going to be fighting the whole MACUSA, multiple obscurus or the D and V man together, did we really need this? I can get behind him trying to discover the mystery of the vault but this just smacks of carelessness....
For a guy who says he "Loves magic", apparently he's never respected magic and its dangerous aspects, Quinn is acting like an addict, he's just accumulating powerful spells to inflate his own ego, not pondering the details of every magical subject because Quinn West is too powerful and has nothing to fear!
Way to destroy a horcrux but leave the item unharmed: drop it on the sin vault floor, it destroyed the ghost soul why not a weak soul fragment., worse case scenario you have a wrathful, prideful, envious, greedy, power lusting, body hungry Voldemort fragment which honestly doesn't seem all that different than normal Voldemort and maybe the sloth sin will mellow him out slightly.
Welcome back to the ultimate test of self control!! Will he temper his sins with virtues? Will he OWN his SINS? Will he create a new Occlumency aspect for the protection of the soul? Will he use this curse as his artificially test Occlumency Like how Alan D. Baddeley did? At least this time he could detect the intrusion. Even better he stopped the attack from affecting his soul directly. Now he is his own case study for protection of the soul. Maybe by the end of this trial he will have a way to replicate the feat and even possibly protect and teach protection to the three unforgivable as each unforgivable may have a soul aspect to them to use as a back door loophole in a wizards normal protection. I am also interested if he can manifest a patronous in his mindscape or soul scape?, and see how it will affect things too.
