I always assumed that it was because narratively it is a lot less restrictive.

DuchessKolslaw:Is the MC mutant or Inhuman? Inhuman FFs are few and far between but any marvel FF you find will have the MC as a mutant. I just find it weird why authors pick Mutants over any other power most of the time.

I think the author-san is indian Or atleast Asian. It's only here that we call older workers and maids as uncle and aunts. I know for sure the British and Americans call everyone with a title "Mr, Ms. Mrs" Or just by their given name...
